REVIEW: Green Lantern Corps Edge of Oblivion #2

Capture

After speculation of mine and other readers of how Lost Army’s plot lines actually fit within Edge of Oblivion’s larger plot line. Well according to Van Sciver himself this current mini series is in fact not a direct follow up to Lost Army. While I’m glad that Lost Army’s plot lines are being shelved since the overall story was below average, the fact that DC isn’t even going to mention it at all is pretty telling of how editorial is handling some of their projects. So with that being said now the comparisons can be dropped, so let’s move forward shall we?

REVIEW: Green Lantern #49

When it comes to superhero comics there’s been a constant discussion of should real world problems intertwine within the realm of fantasy? To some comics are supposed to be an escape from our normal day to day lives. However over the course of seventy five years, there have been instances where the real world problems crossed over to this paper thin realm. I would be here all day long listing them but the one that is more relevant today is Denny O’Neil and Neal Adam’s reinvention of Green Arrow and team up with Green Lantern. This issue serves to cross that boundary once again.

REVIEW: The Omega Men #8

Okay when I set out on my day, I had a good idea on how I wanted to format the intro for this review. After reading The Omega Men number 8 nothing I had prepared could even comprehend the roller coaster of emotions and the jubilation of just how Tom King and Barnaby Bagenda are simply killing it on this series. In today’s comics market the “long game” seems to be an artifact, with no buildup to events and character revelations have no impact due to that lack of buildup. Without spoiling the issue here, this chapter of The Omega Men is a perfect example of how laying a solid foundation is better than a rush job.

“Green Lantern Corps” Movie Teased & Logo Revealed by Geoff Johns

Last night (January 19th), DC Entertainment’s Chief Creative Officer and former Green Lantern writer Geoff Johns appeared on the CW Network to discuss the upcoming DC films and characters. Alongside super geek and film director Kevin Smith, Johns teased the recently announced Green Lantern Corps movie while showing off some comic work (that we’ve seen before) from Doug Mahnke, Ivan Reis and Jim Lee among others. The entire television special is available online at the CW (which is filled with Batman v Superman and Wonder Woman clips), but check below for the Green Lantern related bit.

REVIEW: Sinestro #19

Will issue #19 be the same old story for Sinestro and crew? Did Cullen Bunn surprise me as we near the (potential) end of the Paling threat? Can you tell that the best way for teasing a review is to ask questions you already know the answer to? Great. Find out what I thought about all that stuff and more below and don’t be surprised because you’re better than that.

Looks like there are no fools at DC Comics come April! Based on the info below, it’ll be John Romita Jr. Variant Cover month and that’s awesome. Not to mention a new Sinestro Corps LEADER?! So, I have to ask… what more could you want from April huh?

Green Lantern Excluded from “Justice League vs Teen Titans” Animated Movie

TV Insider has the official cast lineup for the upcoming Warner Bros. Animation feature Justice League vs Teen Titans. Unfortunately, it won’t be featuring a Green Lantern. Oddly, it will feature the adult Flash but not Kid Flash. We get Robin and a Nightwing but no Kid Flash or Green Lantern. Strange decisions from director Sam Liu and company. Check below for the list of announced actors and characters because after all, we could get a cameo if nothing else.

REVIEW: Green Lantern Corps Edge of Oblivion #1

While I won’t recycle The New Day joke once again, it is a new chapter for the Green Lantern Corps. It’s no secret that Lost Army started out with promise but slowly dissolved into a mess. Now former Earth 2 writer Tom Taylor returns to DC to finish up what Cullen Bunn started. What’s even better is Ethan Van Sciver joins him and veteran fans will remember the stamp that EVS has left on the Green Lantern legacy. So with that being said, let’s see what Tom Taylor and Ethan Van Sciver have in store for The Lost Lanterns.
