I’ll be the first one to admit that I’m not too enthusiastic with the direction that this book seems to be going and this is only issue one. This isn’t a case against Simon Baz or Jessica Cruz mind you, but rather a yawn directed at the focus on the tired concept that is the Red Lantern Corps. I’m not throwing in the towel on this series right away but I’m praying to Oa that the true strength of the series relies on both rookie Green Lanterns. It’s ideally a new era for the Green Lantern family of titles, so let’s see how Sam Humphries and Robson Rocha plan to kick it off. Spoilers ahead!

Even though the train for Rebirth has officially left the station, we have one straggler before the new status quo can officially take mold. It’s the final chapter of the latest mini series to feature the GLC, and despite the fact that I’ve been unimpressed to negative for most of this series, I genuinely want this finale to end on a positive note. So before we close this chapter of the Green Lantern Corps, let’s say goodbye to this universe and welcome back the old DCU.

Yes your eyes do not deceive you, there are two reviews dedicated to Green Lanterns Rebirth. It’s a new era for the Green Lantern mythos, as now we only have two monthly books to concern ourselves with. After over a year of Jessica Cruz under the influence of The Power Ring, she finally gets a chance to shine alongside her new partner Simon Baz. Now to usher in this new era for Green Lantern, as Sam Humphries (along with Geoff Johns) set the stage for the new dynamic duo.

So here we are at the start of something new again. Jessica Cruz. Simon Baz. Both now in the hands of writer Sam Humphries. This is his first crack at these characters and the lantern universe. So lets find out what his take on them is and surely overreact with positive words or negativity as fans ALWAYS do. Hit the jump because the Rebirth begins here!
