REVIEW: Green Lantern Corps #33

Welp, here we are. The grand finale to the epic Uprising crossover. A crossover that has more twist than a package of twizzlers could ever hope to contain. That might be an exaggerated statement, but one can’t deny that the rug has been pulled out from Green Lanterns several times. So with the last issue of Green Lantern having an ominous ending, it looks like Van Jensen has one more twist up his sleeve, and let’s just say that the reaper has finally come to claim something from John.

REVIEW: Green Lantern #33

Penultimate issues, one more chapter and this war with the Durlans threat can finally be put down for good. Needless to say that this war has been the exact opposite of what readers may have been expecting. Which considering that the focus has been the Durlan threat, then I’ll say that fits perfectly with the nature of a Durlan. Layers upon layers, like an onion one would might say. Now that we know what the Durlans endgame is it’s time for Hal and the rest of the corps to stand their ground and contain this threat. There is still one more chapter to go though…..hrrmmm.

REVIEW: Green Lantern New Guardians #32

Do y’all know the expression “less is more?” Of course you guys do, this is a smart community. It is a story device that I loved when it’s used properly. I’m a reader who doesn’t need something shown and explained what everything means right away. That’s the old school way of writing comics. So what exactly does this have to do with this recent issue of New Guardians? Well let’s just say and old foe “returns” but in a fashion that appears to be a different from their previous incarnation. The cover basically tells you who it is, but that’s where the fun can truly begin. So let’s open up this bad boy up.

REVIEW: Green Lantern Corps #32

Well this crossover has certainly been more than meets the eye. (please don’t sue us Hasbro). The old saying of the enemy of my enemy is my friend and the more important lesson of never under any circumstances should an individual trust a shape shifter. So now the focus of this war has been condensed to two locations as both sides prepare to make their final stand. That being said, there are still two parts left after this, leaving this reviewer with one thought. The Durlans have something else up their sleeves, what danger could it be?

REVIEW: Earth 2 #24

Nuclear explosion cliffhanger, I’m not sure that you can possibly top that but last time I checked the book hasn’t been cancelled so that means the heroes are still alive in some horrific fashion. With the sheer amount of death and punishment being bombarded on this book, the question needs to be asked. Can this bleak world become even bleaker? What else can the deadly combo of Tom Taylor and Nicola Scott possibly cook up in their minds to twist the arms of our heroes? Will there be some some ray of light? The answers to those questions are yes….and no. Let’s dive in and find out together.

REVIEW: Green Lantern #32

The enemy of my enemy is my friend, a phrase that has been echoed throughout the ages. The readers of Green Lantern have seen this phrase come to fruition over the past year, but it looks like that trusting a shape shifter is never a good idea no matter what the circumstances are. Plus now that we know that the Durlans have been hiding the true game changer for this war without telling their allies. If I know anything about partnerships, it’s that hiding something can lead to a terrible break up. So let’s not waste anymore time and see what Uprising part 3 has in store.

REVIEW: Green Lantern New Guardians #31

Oh boy, I’m still reeling after the last annual for New Guardians, but now the regular title must press on. Sometimes the best solution to a problem is for one to remove themselves from the given situation. Give yourself some perspective and perhaps that individual can find the answer to the turbulence they are currently in. Maybe that person should be forced to leave? Well that’s exactly where we find Kyle at this given crossroad. He’s either become or becoming something bigger than his mind could comprehend. It looks like Kyle will have to look deep inside himself to figure out this problem.

REVIEW: Green Lantern Corps #31

One issue in and it appears that Green Lantern Corps has the Khund/Durlan alliance on the run. One chapter in into a six part crossover and the enemy is already calling a retreat. For some that could signify a loose story and the writers aren’t pacing the story properly. Kinda hard to say that with one issue but I know some fans will slide to that argument. For others this could only mean that there is a bigger end game for the overall story and that makes me want to read this crossover more. So let’s see what chapter two has in store for The Green Lantern Corps.

REVIEW: Earth 2 #23

Look at yourself for a few minutes. Go ahead, this review will still be here. Are you done? Do you see how much you’ve changed for good or ill? Do you feel different or act differently? What if you became something that you despised? Now take the scenario and place Superman and Lois Lane. The most iconic relationship in all of comics and pull them away from apart. Now twist both of their images, making them virtually unrecognizable to each other. What happens when the two meet after Lois’s apparent death, five years prior? Well let’s jump right into this roller coaster that is Earth 2.

REVIEW: Green Lantern #31

Can you believe it’s been an entire year since Robert Venditti and crew took? I know I can’t, it feels just like yesterday. For only being on the job for one year, Robert sure has tested Hal in a way that I didn’t think was possible. Forcing him to be a leader readers saw Hal mature as a leader and as person. With all that being said, war is at the door steps and The Green Lantern Corps face not simply the Khund, the Durlans, the Outer Clanns, but races who have joined with them. Needless to say that’s one heck of a enemy fleet. So without furtherĀ  adieu, let’s start this uprising!
