REVIEW: Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps #10

The holiday season is a time where we gather around our loved ones (those we’ve lost and those that still remain) and exchange gifts. Most of the time we except the gifts with a smile, hug it out and then eat some delicious holiday ham. However every now and then, you run into a kid or someone your age who just isn’t satisfied. They’ll either cry or moan the rest of the day that they didn’t get what they wanted, or that they wanted….more…. How does this relate to this issue? Read further on to find out, spoilers are to follow. You have been warned.

REVIEW: Justice League #10

It’s finally December ladies and gentlemen! The year is finally over, and for DC: Rebirth we are officially six months into this new era for DC comics. I’ve been hit or miss on this series since issue one as I feel that there are certain aspects that Bryan Hitch does very well that makes me want to read this book each time it comes out. There are other times where I’m left scratching my head as to what is going on and how does this help the story he wants to tell. After the Justice League showing up in suburban America at the end of last issue, let’s see where Hitch goes from here.

At a certain point in your life, a person ideally finds what they want to do and most go to lengths to achieve whatever dream they have. However once that dream is achieved there is a nagging question that creeps into people’s minds from time to time. Am I good enough to be where I’m at? You can be told a millions times by fans, and loved ones that we are good enough but that doubt never really goes away for some people. It’s something you have to face in the mirror each time you wake up, it’s something both Simon and Jessica have to deal with. Warning there will be spoilers, you have been warned.

First and foremost, I want to wish everyone who lives in the United States, may your Thursday be filled with delicious food followed by a food coma. Despite the fact that the holidays are supposed to be a time of reflection and being around those we all love and adore but the reality is that we sometimes Thanksgiving means having uncomfortable conversations with family members or friends that make you wish you were back home reading comics in peace. Can you picture a Thanksgiving with the Sinestro and Green Lantern Corps? That’s where we find ourselves this time around. Warning spoilers are to follow.

REVIEW: Justice League #9

Control is the one thing we as humans all desire. Even though our world isn’t filled with alien invasions, magical hordes seeping into our dimensions or insane clowns making elaborate death traps for billionaires dressed as giant bats. What we have is the illusion of control in the chaotic world that we live in, (yes even before the results of the 2016 election). Does the same apply to our costume adventures who deal with Earth shattering events on a daily basis? What does this have to do with Justice League? Read further on to found out, spoilers are too follow.

REVIEW: Green Lanterns #11

Before you read this review, I want you to go your mirror and just look at yourself. Don’t take a selfie, don’t shed clothing just examine yourself and your current state of affairs. Okay you’re back? Despite our achievements or disappointments we all still day dream about jobs or accomplishments that will most likely never happen for one reason or another. Hell I dream of being the WWE champion at Wrestlemania with fireworks celebrating my victory over John Cena. What exactly does this self introspective stuff have to do with Green Lanterns? Read further on, but be warned that spoilers are to follow.

REVIEW: Hal Jordan & The Green Lantern Corps #8

Okay listen, it’s been a weird twenty four hours for just about everyone. I know that’s not what you come her for but I just have to get this off my chest. Despite the difficult time, the follow moments are what will define us. Sides were chosen, one of fear and one of will, but we have to look past our differences because there’s more at stake than we realize. Wait… I hope you don’t think I’m writing about the president election? Hell no I’m talking about Sinestro and Green Lantern Corps uniting as one, but holy **** Donald Trump is the President of America. Spoilers ahead, read at your own risk.

REVIEW: Justice League #8

After the dramatic ending from the last issue of Justice League, it makes me wonder as a reader as to where Hitch takes the team from here. It’s also a bit sad that Jessica Cruz quit the Justice League so early without contributing any of real substance to the team. Yes I’m fully aware of extremely short stints on team books (looking at you Thunderbird), but Jessica’s personality provided something different than any other character before. Hopefully this issue will actually mention Jessica’s departure and not overlook it right? Also warning there will be spoilers going forward.

REVIEW: Green Lanterns #10

Halloween is officially over, and the holiday season has begun! Even though down here in Texas it still feels like it’s early summer. Besides the minor complaining I hope everyone had a good scare, but after a two issue mini arc, issue ten begins the Phantom Lantern story line. Readers were given a small preview from the last issue, and while I have my own worries about where Humphries will take this story when you factor the origin of the Phantom Ring. The time for talk is over let’s see the opening salvo for The Phantom Ring. Warning spoilers are to follow.
