REVIEW: Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps #22

Throughout time we as people have always found a way to retain some sort of normalcy. No matter the chaos surrounding the world at any given time, it’s utterly important to keep with a routine. It’s not something explored deeply in the realm of superhero comics. Yes they’re breather issues occasionally that give some introspective to the lives of the heroes we follow on a weekly basis, but usually it’s one shattering crisis after another. Forcing readers to keep with up a break neck speed. Does this issue continue the rapid pace or does it slow thing down a bit. They’re will be spoilers, you have been warned.

Accomplishing our dreams is something that seems impossible. The road is to daunting, support waivers after a while you yourself might stop believing in dreams and settle into complacency. Sadly this is what happens to millions of people because the reality is that we all can’t achieve our dreams at the same time, however that doesn’t mean one should give up on their goals. It only means that it wasn’t the right time. It’s about having that willpower to finish what you started, and if you’re reading this or are a frequent visitor to this website you are familiar with the concept. Let’s be real for just a moment. Given the state of the world right now, despite all our individual differences there is one unifying thought. Despite what people say out loud, we as humans are thinking about the future in some fashion, whether it’s tomorrow, six months, five years or two decades, the future is on everybody’s mind. Now imagine if you lived in a universe filled with strange people and beings actually coming from the future. How would that effect your outlook into the future? Enough meandering, there will be spoilers going forward! You have been warned.

REVIEW: Hal Jordan & The Green Lantern Corps #20

CONSEQUENCES! I realize that wasn’t a full sentence, but if that one line got your attention then I did my job for today. In all seriousness, one of the many aspects of why I still continue to read comics on a weekly basis (besides this site paying me a huge amount of cash, in fact I’m writing this from my yacht), but it’s the notion of dropping a hint of something and revisiting that concept at a later time. While it seems easy to pull off, I think it takes a good amount of skill to recall hints. Warning they’re will be spoilers going forward, you’ve been warned.

I want you (yes whoever is reading this) to stop for a second and remind yourself when you first started reading comics. You might read something that started off as mundane but then gave you a feeling that only comic books can deliver. It may be a trip across the multiverse, a trip to the past or the future, or a battle against some cosmic God you will always will remember the first a comic book took you on an adventure you’ll never forget. Keep that in mind, also as per usual there will be spoilers! you have been warned!

REVIEW: Hal Jordan & The Green Lantern Corps #19

HUBBA HUBBA HUBBA WHO DO YOU TRUST?! ME?! Okay now that I’ve gotten the Batman 89 reference out of my head, time travel is the one of the trickier aspects when writing in a shared universe. In most cases time travel is not done well and ultimately it gets forgotten the moment that particular story arc concludes. However when time travel within comics is done well, it can make readers beg to learn more about what might coming down the pipe. Now that a certain character has joined the GLC as of last issue it’ll be interesting to see if Venditti drops any future mention of things to come. Warning there will be spoilers going forward, read at your own risk.

REVIEW: Green Lanterns #21

For superheroes death is nothing but a revolving door, even the most heartfelt of death scenes ultimately seem trivial when in the back of reader’s minds they know the heroes will return in some fashion. However one aspect that isn’t treated like a joke is the death of supporting characters. Yes some of them do return but for the most part when a supporting character dies, they stay dead until the plot deems otherwise. What if we took this idea and looked at death from the villains perspective? Warning there will be spoilers, read your comic before reading further. You have been warned.

REVIEW: Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps #18

I know I’m relatively young, but if there’s one thing I’ve learned when it comes to human beings is the sheer amount of animosity we can have when trusting another human. I understand that is a huge generalization but I believe that it’s a factor of life at this point. For some people it takes time to get over these preconceived notions and move forward in building a better society, one that well can enjoy for generations to come. There will be spoilers going forward, you’ve been warned. Read at your own risk.
