First and foremost, I want to wish everyone who lives in the United States, may your Thursday be filled with delicious food followed by a food coma. Despite the fact that the holidays are supposed to be a time of reflection and being around those we all love and adore but the reality is that we sometimes Thanksgiving means having uncomfortable conversations with family members or friends that make you wish you were back home reading comics in peace. Okay listen, it’s been a weird twenty four hours for just about everyone. I know that’s not what you come her for but I just have to get this off my chest. Wait… I hope you don’t think I’m writing about the president election? Hell no I’m talking about Sinestro and Green Lantern Corps uniting as one, but holy **** Donald Trump is the President of America. Spoilers ahead, read at your own risk.

REVIEW: Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps #7

Can you believe that the time has flown by so quickly? I mean shipping a book every two weeks will make it seem that time is somehow moving faster, but it’s time to conclude the first arc of H&TGLC. It’s no secret that out of the two books dedicated to the mythos of Green Lantern. This book is dedicated to older readers who have an affinity for the days of old. Yet at the same time Venditti isn’t making the series unfriendly for new readers who may have only know about Green Lantern from other media. A remarkable feat and let’s see how this final arc wraps up, and there will be spoilers in this review. You have been warned.

REVIEW: Hal Jordan & The Green Lantern Corps #6

Growing up in the state of Texas, children are taught at a very young age the definition. Whether you were a Longhorn and you were raised to see Boomer Sooner as the enemy, or you grew up in Bryan Texas and the boys in Austin needed to get a beat down the day after Thanksgiving. Robert Venditti is tapping into the visceral nature of the rivalry between Hal Jordan and Sinestro. A conflict that’s been almost nonstop since 1961. Now after a few months of buildup, the rivalry is officially renewed. Warning there will be spoilers, you have been warned.

REVIEW: Hal Jordan & The Green Lantern Corps #5

It’s the machine that never stops, the battle between good and evil will be a staple in human history till our ultimate destruction and the roaches take over. This may seem a bit nihilistic when I’m simply reviewing a book which main driving focus is between the rivalry of Hal Jordan and Sinestro. Sometimes one must take a step back and examine what makes this particular confrontation different than the times before? Are both characters in the same mindset than their previous encounter? It’s time for a little self examination before Hal and Sinestro fight once more. Final warning, there will be spoilers going forward read at your own risk. You have been warned.

REVIEW: Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps #4

As much as we love our heroes, It’s a pretty safe bet that most readers find more pathos within the antagonist then the heroes themselves. Look at Lex Luthor, Vandal Savage, The Joker, and of course Sinestro himself. It’s been said before that villains form our darkest desires, hopefully not the mass killing aspect but rather the power fantasy pushed to the extreme. The commanding presence when entering a room the respect that comes along with being perceived as the top dog. Before going forward there will be spoilers, so be sure to read your issues before reading further.

REVIEW: Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps #3

Teamwork is an essential part of daily life, despite the fact you have many self proclaimed “lone wolfs” who feel they can handle any challenge on their own despite the odds. Yet at the end of the day we each need other to overcome the obstacles that we as individuals can’t overcome. Heck that’s why the Justice League formed in the first place, and why there are thousands of Green Lanterns instead of just one (except for that one time from 94 to 04). How does that all factor in today’s issue of Hal & The GLC? Read further on and beware spoilers are bound. Click here to read the full article.

REVIEW: Hal Jordan & The Green Lantern Corps #2

It’s officially August, and the heat keeps ratcheting up. While it’s way to early to say whether or not DC’s Rebirth is a success (that’ll be a December issue heh) from this small reviewers’ perspectives, it’s recaptured the magic that DC comics mostly lacked between 2011-to early 2016. Focusing on the titles that you the reader care about, and I dare say that both series dedicated to the emerald cops provide their own unique directions yet they feel part of a bigger picture. So lets see if Hal Jordan & The Green Lantern Corps can maintain the rush from the previous issue. Also remember kids spoilers are near. Please get your parents permission before reading further on.

REVIEW: Green Lanterns #4

They say every comic book can be someones first. They are typically never named but let me say to that anonymous collective out there that they are probably right, and it is because of sayings like this that issues like Green Lanterns #4 make for a highly problematic read. Well, at least for the veteran reader. Let’s just proceed with the review and look around for spoilers beyond this point, shall we? We shall.

REVIEW: Hal Jordan & The Green Lantern Corps #1

What I’m about to write maybe a bit odd, especially since DC’s Rebirth intention is to remind old and newer readers about the days of yore. Yet in the Rebirth issue for this series, half of story was dedicated to an aging Sinestro, a character who has battled Hal Jordan for more than fifty years now not even a snapped neck could prevent him from continuing the fight. Seeing this version of Sinestro battered by the sands of time reminds us that we all have a clock ticking down to the end. The big difference is between us and Sinestro is that we’re not Sinestro. Spoilers to follow in the review below, advance on your own merit.
