REVIEW: Green Lanterns #15

Whoever is reading this I want you to take a look at the person in the mirror. Now take into account what you accomplish on a daily basis and more than likely it’s a simple process of getting out of bed, putting on your work clothes and doing your job. For others it’s not as easy, for others getting out of bed is the biggest challenge of their given day. I’ve been highly critical of how Sam Humphries has handled Jessica Cruz’s anxiety over the last fifteen issues. Well today I might be changing my tune about that. Spoilers are to follow, you’ve been warned.

REVIEW: Green Lanterns #14

Hello everybody and welcome to 2017! Yes it is a new year and that means a sorta fresh new start for our resident Green Lanterns! This issue concludes the Phantom Lantern arc and while I’ve been critical it there are many aspects that I’ve enjoyed. As a fan of the Green Lantern mythos I want this series to be good and enjoyable for both new readers and veteran readers. Will Jessica and Simon move past self deprecation and actually believe in themselves? Will Jessica actually form a construct that’s not completely abstract? What about Frank Laminski? There will be spoilers going forward, so you have been warned.

REVIEW: Green Lanterns #13

Here we are ladies and gentlemen, it was six months ago that DC “restarted” almost every comic, for the Rebirth initiative. It feels like a lifetime ago, especially when you factor in double shipping so it pretty much is condensing a years worth of comics into six months. I’ve written my negative thoughts on the problems that Green Lanterns has had since it launched back in June, but I can’t deny that underneath it all is a good comic for readers who are new to the world of Green Lantern. Let’s see how the final issue of Green Lanterns for 2016 is! There will be spoilers, read further on at your risk.

REVIEW: Green Lanterns #12

At a certain point in your life, a person ideally finds what they want to do and most go to lengths to achieve whatever dream they have. However once that dream is achieved there is a nagging question that creeps into people’s minds from time to time. Am I good enough to be where I’m at? You can be told a millions times by fans, and loved ones that we are good enough but that doubt never really goes away for some people. It’s something you have to face in the mirror each time you wake up, it’s something both Simon and Jessica have to deal with. Warning there will be spoilers, you have been warned.

REVIEW: Green Lanterns #11

Before you read this review, I want you to go your mirror and just look at yourself. Don’t take a selfie, don’t shed clothing just examine yourself and your current state of affairs. Okay you’re back? Despite our achievements or disappointments we all still day dream about jobs or accomplishments that will most likely never happen for one reason or another. Hell I dream of being the WWE champion at Wrestlemania with fireworks celebrating my victory over John Cena. What exactly does this self introspective stuff have to do with Green Lanterns? Read further on, but be warned that spoilers are to follow.

REVIEW: Green Lanterns #10

Halloween is officially over, and the holiday season has begun! Even though down here in Texas it still feels like it’s early summer. Besides the minor complaining I hope everyone had a good scare, but after a two issue mini arc, issue ten begins the Phantom Lantern story line. Readers were given a small preview from the last issue, and while I have my own worries about where Humphries will take this story when you factor the origin of the Phantom Ring. The time for talk is over let’s see the opening salvo for The Phantom Ring. Warning spoilers are to follow.

REVIEW: Green Lanterns #9

As the year winds and the weather becomes colder (well hopefully it does). Our minds begin to remember the fun times, the dramatic times, and what we’ve could have done differently. Chances are most people will end focusing on why the fates didn’t favor them. Why must they suffer while others are enjoying their lives? For most people, they shrug off the doubt and worry and they move on to the next phase of their life. For some the bitterness never leaves them, poisoning their minds. What exactly does this have to do with Green Lanterns? Read on to find out. Warning there will be spoilers going forward. You’ve been warned.

REVIEW: Green Lanterns #8

Can you smell it? It’s the start of the most wonderful time of the year!!! Now many reserve that phrase with winter as the decorations of various holidays, flood store departments as cash registers sing with the sound of the American way. For me, I’ve always preferred Fall since it won’t be too hot nor to cold and I can wear shorts and feel the gentle breeze upon my legs. With fall also comes Halloween, which is where we find both Jessica and Simon this time around as they search for this new Guardian. There will spoilers going forward so read your issue before going forward. You have been warned.

Whether it’s parents or guardians we all have someone who handed us the tough love we all needed to hear in order for us to become the people we should be. Most superhero parents are depicted as gentle guardians ushering our heroes to their ultimate destiny, now Sam Humphries introduces us to Simon Baz’s mom. REVIEW: Green Lanterns #6

It really isn’t a secret that I’ve had mix emotions on what Sam Humphries has brought to the Green Lantern mythos. The addition of Jessica Cruz has mostly been positive (with the exception of her curling into a ball last issue) but given that Simon seems to tapping to powers that no other Green Lantern before me gives me reason to pause. It’s a delicate balance when a creative team wants to leave their mark on a character while also respecting what has come before. While I’m the biggest fan of what Baz has been given, but it’s to early to judge for all that! For now be sure you read your issue before continuing further.
