REVIEW: Green Lantern New Guardians #40

Here we are once again with another farewell before DC begins the Convergence. If you’re reading this (thanks by the way) then chances are you’re surrounded by a group of people who love you and will support you in the darkest of times. However some of us can be stubborn and will attempt to bear the burden alone, which leads us to forget why we have friends to begin with. That isolating feeling becomes more welcoming over time despite it’s false promise of peace. Our own inner demons are the greatest enemies any of us will face.

REVIEW: Green Lantern New Guardians #39

What is the one common enemy we as a people share? Something that no matter what your gender, race, or religious belief is, we can all understand on a primal level. Of course I’m referring to our inner demons, the voices in our heads that leads us on the road to doubt and in some cases depression. It’s easy to punch something or lash out at a external problem but fighting the voices can be a person’s toughest fight. So now imagine if those voices become tangible and their goal is eradicating you from the universe. The countdown is almost done.

REVIEW: Green Lantern New Guardians #38

The writing on the wall doesn’t bode well for the future of Kyle Rayner my friends. Time appears to be appears to be running out for the resident White Lantern, as he still continues to struggle with his new relationship and the ultimate fate of his powers. Only three issues remain before DC dives into Convergence, and New Guardians will bid farewell. What exactly will Kyle have to endure? It’s going to be a long three months before any of these will actually be answered, but until then let’s all together countdown the pages of Kyle Rayner.

REVIEW: Green Lantern New Guardians #37

With less than a week till Christmas, which also means that the marathon known as Godhead is nearing it’s finale. It’s been a roller coaster since this crossover started back in October but it’s always a bit shocking when a crossover of this magnitude is nearly over. So with the status of High Father becoming mad with power it’s interesting to note the “good guys” have yet to go on the offensive. So will this issue actually begin the momentum shift? Or will it be yet another wall of an issue akin to the previous chapter.

REVIEW: Green Lantern New Guardians #36

We’ve all been in a situation where we had to put our trust in someone we don’t even know. Most of the time (at least in my experience) everything turns out okay and no harm done. However because life loves to throw the occasional breaking ball, just when you think said individual has your best interest that’s when it all goes to hell in a hand basket. Given the cover for this issue it appears that Kyle may have made a mistake by going with High Father. Let’s see if that is actually the case with the latest chapter of Godhead.

REVIEW: Green Lantern New Guardians #35

The crossover rolls on with the focus shifting towards everyone’s favorite White Lantern, Kyle Rayner. Due to Kyle’s incident with the Source Wall and the discovery of the Life Equation in makes complete sense that Kyle will be the focal point for this epic story. Plus given last month’s Futures End tie-in readers have a vague idea of what Kyle’s ultimate fate might be. Will this book continue the theme of Lanterns having their collective tushes kicked by the New Gods? Or will the shift in titles make the tone change as well? Let’s charge up and find out shall we.

REVIEW: Green Lantern New Guardians Futures End #1

For this reviewer this is the last Futures End tie-in thus ending DC’s latest gimmick month. Now the spotlight shifts to resident White Lantern, Kyle Rayner. Both Hal and John have gone to the extreme in either actions or personality. Heroes who have been raked through the mud with no other option but to become something they don’t recognize. So when you factor in Kyle’s recent trip into the Source Wall, it’ll be interesting to see what Kyle’s status in Futures End.

REVIEW: Green Lantern New Guardians #34

It’s that time again to dive into what has become everyone’s favorite horror comic! While I jest I’m only half kidding as New Guardians has seemingly transformed into a book that has me looking behind to see if someone is following me. However after last month’s revelations, the fear has shifted into pity. One could say that a person’s biggest fear is regret or feeling hopeless in a given situation. So take that and see if it applies to an immortal being. An immortal being who’s previous incarnations felt that emotions were weak. What if a Guardian could cry?

REVIEW: Green Lantern New Guardians #33

Had enough Nightmare fuel yet? As I mentioned last month New Guardians went to a dark place and it looks like this issue will continue that theme. Which leads us as readers to ask who are the Psions? One thing is for sure, they seem to take after Saw in terms of their torture methods. Minus the sick “game” aspect of course. What horrors remain hidden in the darkness for Kyle, Carol, and the remaining Guardians to discover. Well let’s just say that it only gets more sadistic with a dash of sorrow. Enough with idle chit chat, let’s open page one already.

REVIEW: Green Lantern New Guardians #32

Do y’all know the expression “less is more?” Of course you guys do, this is a smart community. It is a story device that I loved when it’s used properly. I’m a reader who doesn’t need something shown and explained what everything means right away. That’s the old school way of writing comics. So what exactly does this have to do with this recent issue of New Guardians? Well let’s just say and old foe “returns” but in a fashion that appears to be a different from their previous incarnation. The cover basically tells you who it is, but that’s where the fun can truly begin. So let’s open up this bad boy up.
