REVIEW: Green Lantern Corps #40

Everyone has their tragic moments of the past, something we all wish we could change. While the initial event passes the scars remain. Sleepless nights or seemingly endless nightmares, can plague an individual who only seeks one thing. Closure. Something that will bring peace to their minds and hearts and finally be able to move on from the incursion of their souls. Which brings us to John Stewart and the planet of Xanshi. For good or ill the planet of Xanshi has been part of John for over 20 years now, and it’s brought up once again. Will this final issue of Green Lantern Corps finally bring John the closure that he so desperately needs?

REVIEW: Earth 2 World’s End #18-21

The end is nigh for the heroes of Earth 2. It’s hard to believe that this weekly series is less than one month before fans will know the fate of their favorite characters. Usually this is the part where the heroes are at their darkest and every single plot line that has been laid down begins to weave into one gigantic finale. It’s all about building momentum and ultimately delivering a satisfying conclusion, which is easier said than done. Without wasting anymore time, let’s take a look at the penultimate month of World’s End!

REVIEW: The Multiversity Mastermen

If you were disappointed that I didn’t review The Multiversity guidebook from last month, sorry but I honestly didn’t see much point in reviewing it. With that out of the way it looks like the pages of Multiversity have turned to a world where the The Third Reich’s dream came true. For the first time in this series, the book isn’t centered around characters who you would call “heroes” from our perspective. I mean come on we are talking about Nazi’s and a Superman that has been brainwashed by Adolph Hitler can’t possibly feel remorse right?

REVIEW: Green Lantern New Guardians #39

What is the one common enemy we as a people share? Something that no matter what your gender, race, or religious belief is, we can all understand on a primal level. Of course I’m referring to our inner demons, the voices in our heads that leads us on the road to doubt and in some cases depression. It’s easy to punch something or lash out at a external problem but fighting the voices can be a person’s toughest fight. So now imagine if those voices become tangible and their goal is eradicating you from the universe. The countdown is almost done.

REVIEW: Green Lantern Corps #39

It’s hard to believe that this is the penultimate issue for Green Lantern Corps. Which is a shame because I personally feel that this squad of Green Lantern’s could have been something special, despite the crossovers occasionally halting character progression for big action set pieces. Yes other readers will have their favorites but as a relative new reader to GLC as a book it’s been a pleasant ride since May 2012. It seems a bit redundant to write this here since this isn’t the last issue but it’s what I am felt as I read the issue. So enough of sentimental nonsense it’s time to find out what up with lies in the shadows.

REVIEW: Earth 2 World’s End #13-17

With the recent announcement that Earth 2 will reach it’s conclusion at the end of March, the clock has begun to tick down on the heroes of Earth 2. When you either read it in issues or just look back at how little time has passed since the book debuted in October. It’s been a roller coaster of action and emotion. It’s going to be fun to see how the writers of Earth 2 wrap up the series over the next two months.

REVIEW: Green Lantern #39

You know what day of the year that could potentially ruin a day? No it’s shopping with only two days before Valentines Day, from my perspective it’s actually yearly evaluations. To some people yearly evaluations are nothing special and do little to nothing to make you more efficient at your job. more than often it’s a trivial process where both parties just want it done with. So imagine if you had to stand before The Guardians of The Universe who will decide your fate. That doesn’t sound fun in the least and that’s the position in which Hal finds himself. So with only one more issue before Convergence starts, what lies for Hal Jordan?

REVIEW: Green Lantern New Guardians #38

The writing on the wall doesn’t bode well for the future of Kyle Rayner my friends. Time appears to be appears to be running out for the resident White Lantern, as he still continues to struggle with his new relationship and the ultimate fate of his powers. Only three issues remain before DC dives into Convergence, and New Guardians will bid farewell. What exactly will Kyle have to endure? It’s going to be a long three months before any of these will actually be answered, but until then let’s all together countdown the pages of Kyle Rayner.

REVIEW: Green Lantern Corps #38

While Hal Jordan was forced into some shore leave, the opposite seems to be happening to John Stewart. No rest for the weary I guess? If there was an aspect to Godhead I disliked was shift in focus from the recruits. I can understand why the shift in focus was done and I’m aware they were still involved but the lack of character of growth that’s shown on the page was missed. So hopefully with this new year and Godhead in the rear view mirror, the recruits will shine once again. So let’s see what Van Jensen has in store for John and his platoon.

REVIEW: Green Lantern #38

2015 is here but the ramifications of 2014 will of course follow each the Green Lantern titles. It’s always been interesting to see how some characters react after a mega crossover. Sometimes the writer just plunges the characters into whatever the “next big crossover” but I know I prefer seeing a character unwind a bit, a breather issue if you will. Sadly some fans see issues like I’ve mentioned as “filler content” as overlook some great character moments. So let’s see what Hal Jordan does when on leave from The Green Lantern Corps.
