The amazingly inconsistent Bleeding Cool isn’t sure about their own information so take this with a huge grain of salt, but below you’ll find a list of writers that are rumored to replace Geoff Johns, Tony Bedard, Peter Tomasi & Peter Milligan on the Green Lantern books. If I gave you twenty chances, you wouldn’t have come up with half these names.
Joshua Hale Fiakvov
Joshua is the current writer of I,Vampire and was the first rumored name to take over after Johns’ announcement, because of an interview he did that possibly alluded to writing GL and GLC:
That’s great. So you can confirm you have some other projects forthcoming from DC Comics?
I have two news series, in theory. Things change so quickly so it’s hard to know. I have two books tied to each other. If everything goes as planned, DC is letting me do something that I’ve always wanted to do that’s really ambitious. It’s certainly a new kind of storytelling for DC so fingers crossed.
Robert Venditti
Vendetti is the current writer of Demon Knights, after taking over for Paul Cornell, and was going to write the new Constantine series, but was pulled off at the last minute. Possibly for a Green Lantern title? His other works include X-O Manowar and The Surrogates.
Justin Jordan
Current writer of the soon to be canceled Deathstroke and Team 7 for DC Comics, but known more for his Image Comics series The Strange Talent of Luther Strode. Could Jordan move from Team 7 to the seven corps as New Guardians new writer?
Keith Giffen
Giffen is already writing Threshold which stars newly created “deep cover” Green Lantern Jediah Caul, so no one would really be surprised if he took over a lantern title. He’s also writing the Larfleeze backup story as well, but does that make the obvious choice the one to ignore? Giffen seems to be DC’s go-to guy to replace writers on books that are transitioning to new creative teams.
We’ll find out how accurate these rumors are soon enough. Til then? All will be…a mystery.
