Ratings Quick Beam: Green Lantern: The Animated Series (January 21-27, 2013)

Welcome back to Ratings Quick Beam, where I give you a small dose latest ratings info for your favorite lantern media. Obviously this week is a downer, as we were hit with some bad news but that’s not why you’re here. You’re here to find out just how well, or not, your show is doing. So lets get to it.

Last week, GLTAS had a big jump from 30 to 15 and we wondered where the increase in viewers came from. Unfortunately, this week sees the show falling back down, landing at #23. Let’s try to see what’s changed over the last two weeks. The other DC Nation show, Young Justice had a dip as well, but a bit less than GLTAS, falling to #11 from 4. Here’s the bit that intrigues me, GLTAS actually increased in viewers!

GLTAS went from a P2+ rating of 1707 to 1747! Granted I don’t know too much about ratings numbers, and I’ve always hated math, I do know that an increase in viewers is always a good thing. Now, are we right to assume that despite the lack of change in promotions/marketing for the show that the show’s decrease in rank is solely based on the increase of other programs? I think so.

I don’t want to be the guy that offers up ways to improve the show’s ratings, especially in light of the recent news, BUT…here it goes.

CHANGE THE DAMN SCHEDULE. Show DC Nation more than just the weekends. If Cartoon Network is insisting on not expanding the DC Nation block, then how about expanding it without expansion? Show new episodes of Green Lantern and Young Justice on Monday’s at 4:30-5:30pm, leading into your brand new episodes of Adventure Time and Regular Show. GLTAS and Young Justice already have better ratings on Saturday than the rerun episodes of Regular Show in that 4:30-5:30pm Monday time slot. So with an increased audience waiting to catch your hit, then you’ll probably see a big boast for a show that never gets promotion. Who says kids don’t like action on a Monday night? And if Cartoon Network is so excited for what Beware The Batman and Teen Titans Go! will do in that Saturday slot, then keep them there!

This was not quick. I apologize. See you next week, with a much shorter and less angry version of Ratings Quick Beam.
