Geoff Johns Brings ‘Wrath of the First Lantern’ Crossover to Lantern Books

The “Wrath of the First Lantern” story line kicks off in February’s Green Lantern issue 17 and continues in Red LanternsGreen Lantern Corps and Green Lantern: New Guardians. The arc centers on this old, powerful and bizarre force and his role in the fates of Hal Jordan, Sinestro, John Stewart, Guy Gardner and the newest member of the Green Lantern Corps, Simon Baz.

“I don’t want to say he’s a villain or a hero,” Johns says of the First Lantern, who was introduced in DC Comics’ recent Green Lantern Annual. “He’s just a being who’s targeting our main lanterns, our guys, to see if there’s a way that maybe the universe could improve if they made different choices in their lives.

VIDEO: Green Lantern: The Animated Series Acting Reference

Today is Saturday, and unfortunately that means lots of Green Lantern: The Animated Series fans are going through withdrawal. So, GLTAS producer Giancarlo Volpe gives us a short video showing us reference process that they go through to make those great episodes we love so much.

Animation is always better with acting reference, even if the “actor” is just an animator with no shame. This is a highlight reel of some stuff we sent to our wonderful overseas studio, CGCG to help them with their scenes.

An extra special thanks to Boola Robello for compiling and editing all this footage. You rock!

This video contains the song “Hal vs. Atrocitus” from the Green Lantern: The Animated Series soundtrack, available on Amazon and iTunes.

DC Comics Offering Monthly Titles via Apple, Amazon and B&N

DC Comics is expanding its digital storefront, putting all its monthly titles – from Batman to Superman – on sale at iTunes, Amazon’s Kindle store and Barnes & Noble’s Nook shop.

The move announced Wednesday appears to make DC Entertainment the first major comics publisher to make its titles available through online stores the same day they’re on sale in comic shops. It also expands its digital offerings beyond the top industry digital purveyor, Comixology.

Hank Kanalz, DC Entertainment senior vice president for digital, said the decision shows the importance of digital downloads to the company, which relaunched its universe last year under the so-called “New 52” banner.

“We’ve proven over the last two years that going digital has added to our business in general and going wider is the way to go,” he said.

The decision to go with devices by Apple Inc., Amazon.com Inc. and Barnes & Noble Inc. reflected the fact that users of those gadgets have extensive libraries of digital files – movies, books, TV shows and, now, comics – and don’t necessarily tend to jump from one device to another.
