We’re late to the party, but we’re going to celebrate anyway. Why? Well because the International Animated Film Society, ASIFA-Hollywood announced the nominations and award recipients for the 40th Annual Annie Awards, with some DC Comics-highlighted projects garnering nods. And to be more specific, Green Lantern stars in two of them! The 2012 Annie Award winners will be announced at the Annie Awards ceremony on Saturday, February 2nd, 2013, at UCLAs Royce Hall, in Los Angeles, CA.
That pesky team of superheroes won’t stay out of the news! The Justice League seem to love headlines these days. After the Man of Steel trailer hit this week, the fellows at Latino Review are back on scooping scene with more on DC Entertainment’s potential blockbuster movie. This time around, its the story. Or at least the story that will inspire it. Read below to find out what DCE could base their move on.

Cartoon Network has released a new promotional image for Green Lantern: The Animated Series, providing a look at the episode “Steam Lantern,” set to return January 2013 on the DC Nation programming block. The network describes the episode as, “After being blasted by the Anti-Monitor, Hal finds himself in a steampunk world.” Green Lantern: The Animated Series airs as part of the DC Nation programming block, which is currently on hiatus until 2013. “Steam Lantern” was originally scheduled to air back in October 2012. The latest chapter of Peter Tomasi’s Green Lantern Corps is out this Wednesday, and USA Today spoke with the writer and provided a preview of issue 15. Check out some choice quotes below and the preview as well. Things didn’t look too good for Guy Gardner last month, so lets find out what happens to the fallen lantern next.
In January, DC Comics announced that the Geoff Johns written event story, Blackest Night would be collected in the prestigious Absolute Edition format. That’s quite an achievement, and it definitely got the lantern readers talking. Unfortunately, a lot of that talk was about how the usually must have collection would not collect the just as important Green Lantern issues, also written by Johns, that ran simultaneously with Blackest Night.
Now, DC has listened to your complaints and have added the missing issues of Green Lantern! The catch is that it skips justone issue. That one issue stars the oft-overlooked John Stewart.
Through a press release, Cartoon Network has announced new episodes of Young Justice and Green Lantern: The Animated Series are set to debut on Cartoon Network Canada during the winter season. The network currently airs the first 26 episodes of Young Justice along with the first 13 episodes of Green Lantern: The Animated Series. The information was released through a press release announcing Teletoon’s winter season programming, including details for Teletoon, Teletoon Retro, Cartoon Network Canada, and Adult Swim. The winter season schedule for Teletoon and its affiliate network, begins January 7th, 2013.
