Jason Ritter has been cast in a recurring role in the highly anticipated DC Studios series, Lanterns.
He joins an already star-studded lineup, which includes Aaron Pierre, Kyle Chandler, Kelly Macdonald, Garret Dillahunt, Poorna Jagannathan, and Ulrich Thomsen. According to the official logline, Lanterns follows new recruit John Stewart (Pierre) and veteran Lantern Hal Jordan (Chandler) as they take on the roles of intergalactic cops, investigating a dark, earth-based mystery centered around a murder in the American heartland.
Ritter will portray Billy Macon, a character described as:
“A good-looking charmer who does his father’s bidding. Capitalizing on his family’s reputation, he clings to his small-town ego and has everything to lose.”
Ritter currently stars alongside Kathy Bates in the CBS drama Matlock, which has been renewed for a second season. He is also set to appear in Season 2 of Poker Face on Peacock.

On the big screen, Ritter has appeared in acclaimed films such as Frozen II, The Tale, and The Meddler.
With Lanterns shaping up to be a major addition to DC’s new era of storytelling under James Gunn and Peter Safran, Ritter’s involvement adds even more intrigue to this gritty, detective-driven take on the Green Lantern universe. HBO has yet to announce a premiere date, but anticipation continues to build as casting news unfolds.
