The other comic convention in California! Convention season is in full effect as WonderCon rolls around and we’ve got the latest bits of Green Lantern info. So take a seat, relax and find out what we managed to round up over the weekend.
So while Robert Venditti, Van Jensen and Charles Soule have been taking up all the press news on the web, the new co-writer of Larfleeze, J.M. DeMatteis says the book will be “cosmic absurdity.”

In less absurd news, co-writer of The Flash Brian Buccellato says that Barry Allen(The Flash) will meet Hal Jordan for the first time in the New52. The story, which will be in this years Flash Annual, will show “How they met, and why they like each other” I’ve always thought that Francis Manapul’s art would provide for a very great and unique lantern book. So I very much look forward to that.
Earth 2 writer James Robinson once again teased his upcoming big event story saying it’ll be out early next year. Robinson also said that Justice League writer Geoff Johns, Batman writer Scott Snyder and DC’s Co-Publisher Dan DiDio were all very involved with the event.

Christos Gage (Avengers Academy) and artist Iban Coello (Superboy) will be taking the reins of Justice League Beyond. In non comic news, DC Animation legend Bruce Timm stepped down as producer, but Warner Bros. says he’ll be back. While in videogame news, Injustice: Gods Among Us will have a playable demo available on April 2nd. The demo was actually available to play on the convention floor.
Back to Earth 2, Robinson focused on Green Lantern Alan Scott for a bit. “Breaking [Alan Scott’s] heart at the start is just good drama.” In issue 12, the mystery of why Sam, Alan’s boyfriend, was killed leads into the arc about Wildcat. “His death leads into other storylines.”
Then Robinson turned his attention to the costumes featured in E2. “I cared greatly about how they looked. I’ve been far from happy with Jay Garrick, but I think Alan Scott’s costume is quite good,” he said.
Current Green Lantern artist Doug Mahnke spoke with ComicVine about ending his run on the series after almost four years. He also teased his next project saying “What’s a vacation? If I’m lucky, I’ll get a tiny bit of downtime then I’ll go into my next project. I’ll continue to work with Geoff [Johns]. Not done there yet, no.”
That’s about it. The next convention is C2E2 at the end of April. Until then!
