Cartoon Network Release Statement on DC Nation

 

Cartoon Network and DC Comics recently released a brief joint statement to address the intense online response over the recent cancellations of Green Lantern: The Animated Series and Young Justice. Cartoon Network airs the weekly DC Nation programming block, a joint venture with DC Entertainment, which currently houses the both Green Lantern: The Animated Series and Young Justice. Cartoon Network’s Official Statement on Green Lantern: The Animated Series Future

Representatives for Cartoon Network have provided quotes to The World’s Finest concerning the fate of Young Justice and Green Lantern: The Animated Series, two acclaimed animated shows currently airing on the network’s DC Nation programming block. Both animated series were listed as not returning to Cartoon Network for the 2013 – 2014 season in a Cartoon Network Upfront press release issued earlier today.

Green Lantern: The Animated Series Canceled? It Would Seem So

UPDATE #2:

Newsarama is now reporting word from Warner Bros. Animation that Green Lantern: The Animated Series is now officially canceled. On top of that, writer/producer Jim Krieg says “Well #GLTAS fanterns & #YoungJustice fans, Roswell fans sent 6000 bottles of Tabasco 2 UPN & got 2 more years. What’re u sending to Atlanta?” in an effort to save the show.

Below is the press release from Cartoon Network 2013-2014 upfront presentation, citing new programming initiatives and returning titles. Unfortunately, Green Lantern: The Animated Series (along with Young Justice: Invasion) is not listed. Does this mean the cancellation of the show or just an oversight? Again, unfortunately I have no idea and I am prone to think the worst but let it be known that Cartoon Network has not confirmed the end of GLTAS.

Ratings Quick Beam: Green Lantern: The Animated Series (January 14-20, 2013)

 

This will be short and sweet. There are plenty of places on the internet to find ratings for American Idol and most other major shows on network tv. Consistent cartoon ratings are much harder to find. Saturday morning ratings are even rarer. So here’s the first installment of ratings updates for Green Lantern: The Animated Series. The info will be sparse and there will be very little breakdown. You have been warned.
