If you read the C2E2 recap, then you know former Green Lantern artist, and not so current Firestorm writer Ethan Van Sciver is returning to lantern mythos. Ethan will be drawing an undisclosed amount of pages for the Green Lantern Annual set to release sometime this year. Below, you can check out a view of Ethan’s pencils which feature Green Lantern John Stewart and a certain boy scout. Enjoy.
At the close of his first arc on DC Comics’ relaunched “Green Lantern Corps,” fan-favorite writer Peter J. Tomasi (“Batman and Robin”) killed off a Green Lantern using John Stewart as his weapon of choice.
Always candid, Tomasi told CBR News that he wishes he would have developed Kirrt more fully within the panels of the opening arc but nonetheless feels the character’s death was important to fleshing out John Stewart, Guy Gardner and the rest of the Corps as the role of the DCU’s intergalactic police force becomes more clearly defined within the New 52.
Tomasi also teased what’s to come in the months ahead from him and the rest of the title’s creative team: artist Fernando Pasarin, inker Scott Hanna and colorist Gabe Eltaeb.
Ethan Van Sciver is leaving The Fury of Firestorm: The Nuclear Men! Ethan has been plotting this Firestorm series since day one, drawing covers, and even some interiors. Ethan posted the following on Facebook on Sunday:
Hey guys! Just thought should drop a line to let you know that I’m moving on from FURY OF FIRESTORM to draw some GREEN LANTERN and finish this ogn that I’ve been working on. I’ve helped plot the book’s course into the future with Joe Harris, but I want to narrow my focus now. And believe me, he and Yildiray Cinar have got the ball. Thanks to everyone who’s supporting the book!
