Justice League International Annual Leads to JUSTICE LEAGUE of AMERICA Series

BREAKING NEWS: The Justice League International is closing its doors, just as an all-new Justice League prepares to open up shop. Justice League International Annual 1, available Wednesday in comic shops and digitally, wraps up the series launched in September and featuring the likes of Booster Gold, Guy Gardner and others as global peacekeepers dealing with bureaucratic red tape so that the A-list Justice League doesn’t have to.

The annual, written by Justice League scribe Geoff Johns and DC Comics co-publisher Dan DiDio, continues a plot thread from Justice League issue 12 (also out Wednesday) and debuts two new JLI members — Blue Beetle and the Olympian — during its swan song. Movie News: Ben Affleck Not Working on JUSTICE LEAGUE; “The Matrix” Duo Rumored

Speaking with Canadian press site 24Hours, the actor/director Ben Affleck says “”I’m not working on the Justice League. One of the problems with entertainment web sites is that they need to fill pages, and that’s how rumors get started,”

It was just earlier this month where the internet went crazy with speculation once word was out that Affleck was offered the directorial position for WB’s long delayed superhero team. But at least JL sounds cool, at least Affleck thinks so. “Justice League sounds really exciting, but it’s not something I’m working on,” he continued.

How’s that for comfort? No, well how about this rumor via Moviehole that says the siblings Wachowski’s are on Warner Bros. list to direct the film? Hit the jump for more on that!

PREVIEW: Green Lantern Annual #1

Next week marks the launch of the next big storyline in the Green Lantern comics, Rise of the Third Army. For a long time now, the Guardians of the Universe have been planning to extinguish the Green Lantern Corps — and they’re finally putting their plan into motion. Plus, Black Hand is back and apparently, Hal Jordan is set to become the greatest Black Lantern of them all. Could that explain his absence from the previously released covers for October’s GL books?

Green Lantern Annual #1 offers up a prologue to Rise of the Third Army, and is written by Geoff Johns with art from Ethan Van Sciver. It goes on sale Wednesday. Head over to IGN for the preview!
