The following is an exclusive interview with the new artist for Green Lantern: New Guardians, Aaron Kuder! DC Comics Co-Publisher Jim Lee, who attended the SEMA reveal event in Las Vegas, talked with Geek Magazine about each car and the process behind them. Here’s what he had to say about the Green Lantern car. Also, check out the close up shots and concept design below.
GEEK: Who put together the striking design for the Green Lantern KIA Soul?
Jim Lee: The Green Lantern car was done by Super Street magazine. Every car went through a different creative journey, from initial concept, to collaboration, to final execution. The designers at Super Street submitted the Green Lantern car design first, before any of the other cars. And when I saw it, I was blown away. They did an awesome job and I only gave a few comments on color choice, but it’s really 99% them. They knocked it out of the park. I love all of the elements they incorporated into the car. Obviously, the Green Lantern logo itself, but the rear hatchback area has a really cool callout to the Green Lantern mythology. I thought they did a lot of really subtle things that they really picked up on from the Green Lantern costume. Like the side view mirrors have a white element to them that are evocative of Green Lantern’s white gloves. They really did something that looks futuristic and almost has a… not militaristic, but it looks like a uniform has been placed onto the vehicle. They did a tremendous amount of body work on it. They really did a knockout job on it.Accidents happen every time! But do you know exactly what happens if you’re in a car accident? Ame-Comi Girls #7 featured Jade, the long “lost” daughter of Alan Scott. While she’s currently not available in the New52 continuity, she’s now starring alongside Batgirl, Wonder Woman and other female superheroes in the digital comic series. Based on the anime-inspired figures from DC Collectibles, this series is a unique take on the women of the DCU. It’s a world where only females have super powers–heroes and villains alike. Kia Motors America (KMA) and partner DC Entertainment will arrive in fabulous Las Vegas for next week’s 2012 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show with five heroic Justice League-inspired custom rides, supporting DC Entertainment’s “We Can Be Heroes” giving campaign to fight against the ongoing hunger crisis in the Horn of Africa. The five vehicles, which include the Batman-inspired Optima unveiled recently in New York City, are a direct result of the vision and artwork of legendary comic-book artist, DC Entertainment co-publisher and self-proclaimed car guy Jim Lee and Kia’s collaborations with West Coast Customs (WCC), RIDES magazine and Super Street magazine. In addition to the custom cars, visitors to Kia’s SEMA display will release their inner super hero as they take in the Justice League comic book artwork and life-size characters throughout the booth. Kia’s press conference will take place on Tuesday, Oct. 30 at 9:00 a.m. at the Kia booth located in North Hall (#10809).
Warner Bros. can go ahead with plans for a live-action “Justice League” movie in 2015 following Tuesday’s victory in a Superman legal case.
The studio is expected to accelerate development of a planned “Justice League” movie that would join Superman, Wonder Woman, Batman and other characters, according to a knowledgeable person not authorized to discuss the matter publicly. Warner hopes to shoot the film next year and release it in the summer of 2015.
