Cartoon Network’s Official Statement on Green Lantern: The Animated Series Future

Representatives for Cartoon Network have provided quotes to The World’s Finest concerning the fate of Young Justice and Green Lantern: The Animated Series, two acclaimed animated shows currently airing on the network’s DC Nation programming block. Both animated series were listed as not returning to Cartoon Network for the 2013 – 2014 season in a Cartoon Network Upfront press release issued earlier today.

“Shows will run their courses, others will premiere – but we are not canceling anything, and those two series are still on our air.” – Cartoon Network representative

“[We] still have premieres for both those shows and are committed to excellent action programming and are very excited about ‘Beware the Batman.’” – Cartoon Network representative

 

Giancarlo Volpe, executive producer for Green Lantern: The Animated Series, confirmed for earlier today the animated series is no longer in production and will be replaced on the network schedule. Assorted members of the Young Justice production crew also confirmed the end of the show’s production earlier this year.

Multiple online news outlet have confirmed, both directly and indirectly, that Young Justice: Invasion and Green Lantern: The Animated Series are no longer in production – some citing both shows as “cancelled” – and will be replaced on the DC Nation programming block with the upcoming animated titles Beware The Batman and Teen Titans Go! later in 2013.

Additionally, Warner Home Video has confirmed further home video releases for both titles are confirmed to hit shelves later this year. Expect official street date details in the coming months.
