Green Lantern: The Animated Series SOUNDTRACK Coming Soon?

We’ve been hit with plenty of news about Green Lantern: The Animated Series since it was first announced, but since then most new information has come from one source. One man actually. Series Producer Giancarlo Volpe is the one man marketing machine for GL:TAS. Fortunately, he has a twitter where he constantly interacts with fans of the show. It is there that some of the following news tidbits are from. So if you’re on twitter go thank him. And follow us while you’re at it. On with the news!

First up is something to jam to. Potentially. Hopefully. Recently, Amazon.com made a Green Lantern: The Animated Series Soundtrack available for preorder with a release date of August 21st. When asked if this Frederik Wiedmann composed soundtrack was legit, Giancarlo was unable to confirm. Judging by its description though, I’d say it was on the up and up.

“Presenting the original score to the acclaimed hit DC animated series Green Lantern – The Animated Series, currently airing on Cartoon Network. Composer Frederik Wiedmann fashions an amazing, pulse-pounding original score that propels the legendary Green Lantern to out-of-this-world heights. Packed with more than 70 minutes of thrilling super hero music from some of the show’s greatest moments!”

You know how cartoons sustainability has a lot to do with toy sales? I’m sure WB would happy to know that its other GL:TAS merchandise sold as well. Take the hint lantern fans. Moving on, there has been some debate amongst fans about the status of the second season of the show. Are the first 13 episodes a complete first season? If so, then the recently promoted home video release that stated all 13 eps are “Season One-Part One” would be wrong. If we go by our hype machine Volpe, the answer is “No.” The first season is 26 episodes, and the following 13 will be aired this fall.

And for those of you Razer fans who’s hearts stopped like a “true” Red Lantern during the season finale, Volpe says that they never truly thought about making him a Star Sapphire. Sorry. Oh, that’s a slight spoiler. Sorry again. To make up for it, here’s some storyboard art courtesy of Animator Josh Ling! Click for a larger view.
