Kevin Eastman
Interview!
Get the scoop on his executive
producing role on "Highlander: The Search for Vengeance" anime, as well
as what the true nature of what happened in 2000 with the rights to TMNT
between he and Peter Laird. Check it out
here.
"That seems to be a
continuing, on-going question and it’s due to whatever Mirage is putting
out. When I started working on the second Heavy Metal movie and Heavy
Metal as a company started growing the Turtles were really in a sleeping
period. I told Peter that I wanted to spend more time with Heavy Metal
and he said, “Why don’t we do a deal where I’ll buy out your creative
control?” I still retain an ownership in the property and I get checks
every quarter. Why wouldn’t I, I drew the first Turtles, and I’ve been
with that property for 20 some odd years. So we reached an agreement
that he would take over creative control. But I still own the Turtles
and I still get money and I’m grateful for that because I’ve got bills
to pay. A lot of people say, “Why did you sell out on the Turtles?” I
say, “First, fuck you I didn’t.” They are still very much my characters
and whatever is done with them, hopefully Peter pulls together the right
people to put together the vision that he and I created together."

Updates on
the TMNT Empire...
TMNT Director Kevin Munroe
speaks! "TMNT SEQUEL – No,
there is no word yet. Everyone involved is very excited and happy
with the b.o. of the movie. We’ll just have to wait and see. But
I’ll be here immediately either way. The pessimist in me thinks that
we’ll have to wait for dvd release, but I don’t want that to seem
like a campaign to buy lots of dvd’s has to be started. I think
everyone is counting on great dvd sales, and hopefully some good
marketing with the release. As for the story, plot, etc. we’re sort
of trying not to think about it (tho we have), as it’s kind of nice
to build up a backlog of ideas. Your online discussions have been
cool to check out. Fun to see when people are closer than you’d
think." "Don't know if we could push for a PG13 for a sequel.
It'd be nice. We're really high end PG13 on Gatchaman, so anything's
possible. (mind you, it's not in theatres yet)" From
The
Technodrome.
"Tales of the TMNT" Volume 2
#33 & #34 on the stands!
A double dose of Mirage TMNT
hit shelves this week, making amends for the long wait while our boys at
Mirage had their hands full with the movie prequels and adaptation
(amazing how many comics they were able to churn out in such a short
time! kudos to Mirage).
New Comic
premieres! The
current cartoon "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Fast Forward" is
receiving a new comic book within the pages of the U.K.'s Titan
magazine, written by recent Empire interviewee Tristan Jones himself
(writing the upcoming "Tales of the TMNT" #36 for Mirage as well). Click
here to subscribe!
"The Forever War" expected this
year! According to Mirage, the work on this
decade-in-the-making continuation/conclusion of the well-loved Archie
Comics "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Adventures" comic book series
should be concluding within the coming months, with solicitations from
Mirage Publishing expected to be going out by fourth quarter.
"Tales of the Teenage Mutant
Ninja Turtles" Vol. 1 TPB release date!
Coming your way this November.
"TMNT" movie DVD release date!
Coming to DVD, Blu-Ray, and HD-DVD on August 9th of this year.
"Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles:
Fast Forward" rewinding? Take
this one with a grain of salt at the moment, but coming off the rumor
mill, different sources do seem to paint the same picture -- "Fast
Forward" will be wrapping up its run 10 episodes early. But relax! The
show isn't being cancelled, but rather retooled to better resemble the
universe of the new TMNT movie (or, at least like pre-"Fast Forward"
seasons, we can assume). Stay tuned on this one.

years -- now let's get out there and make sure we're all supporting the
