NYCC ’19: Amy Reeder to write and draw AMETHYST Spinning out of YOUNG JUSTICE

Announced today at DC’s Wonder Comics panel at New York Comic Con, Amy Reeder (BatwomanMoon Girl and Devil Dinosaur, Rocketgirl) will be writing, drawing, and coloring the brand new Amethyst monthly comic series launching February 2020.

Following the character’s triumphant reintroduction in the pages of Young Justice, the new Amethyst series follows teenager Amy Winston, a.k.a. Princess Amethyst, as she returns to her magical kingdom to find it in ruins, her subjects vanished, and none in the realm of Gemworld still loyal to her house. To solve this mystery, restore House Amethyst, and save her family, Amy must find new allies and confront dark secrets on a deadly quest to the farthest reaches of Gemworld.

Free Comic Book Day: DC EXCLUSIVES TO FEATURE ADVANCE LOOK AT HIGHLY ANTICIPATED DC INK AND DC ZOOM TITLES

DC announced today the publisher will showcase its upcoming young reader imprints – DC Ink (YA) and DC Zoom (middle grade) – at this year’s Free Comic Book Day (FCBD) on Saturday, May 4, 2019. DC’s free comic book offerings will include early looks at UNDER THE MOON: A CATWOMAN TALE (DC Ink) and DEAR JUSTICE LEAGUE (DC Zoom).

UNDER THE MOON: A CATWOMAN TALE FCBD SPECIAL EDITION will serve as DC’s Gold Title at the annual event and will feature a free chapter from the upcoming YA original graphic novel by The New York Times bestselling author Lauren Myracle and artist Isaac Goodhart. The full graphic novel is slated to hit stores everywhere books are sold on May 7, 2019.

This FCBD special edition will also include a sneak preview of DC Ink’s upcoming TEEN TITANS: RAVEN graphic novel by New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Kami Garcia and fan-favorite artist Gabriel Picolo which will hit shelves on July 2, 2019.

DC’s FCBD silver comic book will be a kids title featuring two exclusive free chapters from DEAR JUSTICE LEAGUE, an original graphic novel for middle graders from New York Times bestselling author Michael Northrop and artist Gustavo Duarte. The DC Zoom graphic novel is slated to hit stores everywhere books are sold on August 6, 2019 and the early FCBD special edition will feature two excerpts starring Superman and Hawkgirl.

“Dear Justice League” and “Green Lantern: Legacy” Among Several Upcoming DC ZOOM and INK Releases

DC announced today new details surrounding its young reader imprints—DC Zoom and DC Ink—and revealed first looks at titles scheduled for release in fall 2019.

The cornerstone of today’s span announcement are two new graphic novels from DC’s middle grade imprint—DC Zoom—that will debut in October 2019 and the official synopsis of Green Lantern: Legacy.

The Next Adventure of DC Super Hero Girls Continues with New Graphic Novels by Amy Wolfram

DC announced today that the publisher will continue its critically acclaimed DC Super Hero Girls (DCSHG) graphic novel series with new stories told by animation and comics writer Amy Wolfram. Wolfram’s graphic novels will tell original stories starring Batgirl, Wonder Woman, Supergirl and many more popular DC characters set in the same universe as the new DC Super Hero Girls animated series created by Lauren Faust that will air Sundays at 4 p.m. ET/PT on Cartoon Network beginning March 17, 2019.

DC today unveiled full story details on the landmark 1,000th issue of DETECTIVE COMICS, debuting on March 27, 2019. The 96-page DETECTIVE COMICS #1000 celebrates the Dark Knight through a series of seven-to-nine-page standalone short stories from an all-star collection of the top writers and artists in Batman’s recent history including Tom King, Tony Daniel and Joëlle Jones, Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo, Peter J. Tomasi and Doug Mahnke, Brian Michael Bendis and Alex Maleev, Warren Ellis and Becky Cloonan and more. DC is making Bendis’ and Maleev’s new story “I Know” available to read today, in its entirety for free, on DCComics.com.
