REVIEW: Green Lantern New Guardians #27

The spotlight now turns to our resident White Lantern Kyle Rayner and his misadventures through the universes to find out more about the reservoir and possibly his true purpose as the White Lantern. This new direction for New Guardians has the best potential for character development and it allows a contrast for the three corps Green Lantern titles. You combine that with the Star Trek like tone that’s been established from the previous two issues and this could create a wonderful space Odyssey for Kyle and company. Finally of course it’s the potential relationship between Kyle and Carol that could prove to be the most interesting for the Green Lantern mythos. Well let’s open page one and find out shall we?

REVIEW: Green Lantern Corps #27

War has been declared on the Green Lanterns as of last weeks Green Lantern, thanks to the manipulation of the Khund empires and the shape shifting Durlans. So it appears that even after trying to rebuild everything from the ground up, the Green Lantern Corps can’t shake the eye of disaster. So it begs the question, what will John Stewarts response be to what looks like Hal Jordan laying out the secrets to rest of the universe therefore jeopardizing any lantern not on Mogo. While that is all well and dandy the true strength to this issue will that if it can stand by itself, and be accessible to readers who only read Green Lantern Corps and not the main Green Lantern book. Well let’s open page one and find out shall we?

REVIEW: Green Lantern #26

It looks like policing the emotional spectrum won’t be as easy as Hal Jordan assumes it will be. Considering this is still the same man who still even after several months doesn’t seem right for the job. This however has created an interesting story dynamic going forward with some of fellow Green Lanterns latest stance after the revelation of the emotional reservoir. The question that readers should be asking, is Hal Jordan going to far or not far enough. While he hasn’t entered bad guy territory similar to Tony Stark from the other side of the street in 2006, Hal’s stance has certainly raised eyebrows. Before all those questions can be answered however we have to see how Hal and Kilowog get out of the mess on Dekann.

REVIEW: Green Lantern Corps #25

What makes a man who he is? Is it his parentage, or is it the environment? Well instead of progressing the plot John Stewart or any of the new rookies, instead Van Jensen along with Robert Venditti to tell a “Zero Year” story for John. Now for those who are not reading Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo’s current Batman story , it’s basically the origin of Batman and it appears that many characters were affected during a power outage caused by The Riddler with a hurricane on it’s way. Man the people can’t ever catch a break can they? So we are presented a single issue of John without the ring in a rescue mission. So for those that have been begging for a story about John before he became a Green Lantern, well here it is. Let’s open page one and see what Van Jensen and Robert Venditti have in store for us.

REVIEW: Green Lantern Annual #2

The time has come for the curtain to close, as Lights Out draws to a it’s thrilling conclusion. It’s been an interesting ride for the first Green Lantern event in the post Geoff Johns era. Reactions have been mixed on this crossover, and the last two issues didn’t really help in progressing the momentum in a story that started with a bang. That being said though, it’s all about how you wrap up a story and nail the landing is what will ultimately define a story arc. So many stories start out with a bang to end on a sour note. Can Robert Venditti and guest artist Sean Chen avoid this easy trap? Well let’s open page one and find out shall we?
