MST3K: King Dinosaur (1955)

"Why is he blow drying the grass?"

A new planet has been discovered and there is a narrow window during which a small team of intrepid explorers can visit and learn everything they can. Unfortunately, it's a Bert I. Gordon film, which means exactly what you know it means.

I totally forgot I watched Robin Bailey's review of this until well into it, but it was either this or spend 2-3 hours on either Annihilation or Les Mis (Malkovich version). I did, oddly enough, almost like the safe driving PSA they include at the beginning, and the science project exchange where Clayton is smushed by the elevator is right out of Who Framed Roger Rabbit?.

But now I need to clear two hours tomorrow so I can watch Annihilation.

Friday the 13th Part II (1981)

"I ought to let you hang, you pervert!"

40th anniversary. Important to the franchise since it introduces Jason as the killer.

20th anniversary.

I've got a really funny story to share with you regarding this movie, Provincetown, a former boyfriend, and my dad screaming. Alas, for another time, though. 😉

Did they fix the horrible Rock cgi?

Citizen Kane (1941)

"It's the greatest curse that's ever been inflicted on the human race: memory."

For the 80th anniversary, which also led me to watch HBO's 1999 drama about its making (on Youtube right now).

I recall the CGI being okay or even good for its time, but compared to today's tech yes, it's sub-par.

RKO 281 (1999)

"Gentlemen, I am one voice; that is all. My picture is one voice, one view, one opinion, nothing more. Men are dying in Europe now, and Americans soon will be so that we can surmount the tyrants and the dictators. Will you send a message across America that one man can take away our voices?"

Man, I feel old that this is 20 years dated. I saw it in the theater 3 times during its release, and many more times when I bought the DVD. Good times.

I watched all of seasons 1 and 2 and found them all fascinating, even ones I never heard of. I'll be watching this season also either DVRed from my parents cable or through the Vice app. A&E Biography is also doing wrestlers for like two months. I watched the Piper episode and now have Austin and Macho DVRed.

Yeah, I have the BD/DVD combo, which I bought sight unseen. This was my second viewing to help get me in the mood for the new one. I have a friend with an HBO Max account, so I'm going to see if he'll come over and sign on at my house (we talked about doing this with some other movies anyway). If not, I'll try to get to the local AMC this week.

Yea hopefully non wrestling fans who laugh it watch it to get a idea what these people and family go through. I saw jake roberts on the joe roegan podcast last year talking about andre the giant. Wit andre s rare gigantisim he had to shit in bathtubs when at hotels because toilets Wouldn't be able to hold him do to his massive size. Even sleeping was a hassle for andre. I guess in public people bullied him for his size. Imagine being that big nothing regular fits. His drinking stories are legendary. I guess the alcohol helped his pysichal pain because he was still growing. Hopefully season 4 covers haku/ meng because he has his own legend of being a real bad ass in real life. Look up haku/ meng fight stories titled hake the legend continues

Yeah, I know a little about the Haku stuff. If you haven’t seen it, the HBO documentary on Andre is excellent and covers a lot of those health/adaptation issues he had.

Good action as always with Sho, but this one seemed to be missing a lot of the story.
The ending in particular was really jarring, and resolved almost none of the plot.

Such an incredibly solid film, it easily surpasses the typical Disney animated feature.

I remember watching that (just because it was on Instant Netflix) with low expectations at the time and being pleasantly surprised.

Can't really recommend. Okay for a Full-Moon flick shot in Romania. I've happened to have met two of the cast (Jeffrey Combs and Ashley Laurence) at cons.
