Default Hal Jordan Power Battery WIP

Not much to show, but here's my WIP on the power battery. Unending thanks go to RunRunner for his guidance. It'll be getting a reflective green paint job and will light up. The only dilemma is lighting it up; I want it to be bright. SUPER-BLINDING-IN-THE-DAYLIGHT bright.... Ok. Maybe not that bright. But at least bright enough to see in a normally lit room. If anyone of you guys know how I could get that kind of lighting in an 8" acrylic globe, I'd be most in your debt.

And now, without further adieu, here are my pics. They were taken after preliminary priming and before I attached the handle.

And the design on the top

I've since bondo'd and sanded smooth that ugly seam line. So thoughts? Tips? Bueller?

Its a great awsome job, i dont understand is this a lamp that your making that looks like a GL battery or just trying to make your own GL battery because either way looks good. That would be pimp to make it into a Lamp for your home put some green bulbs in it or regular bulb but green filter would be cool as well.

I'm just trying to make my own prop of a GL battery, but it will light up, so in essence it WILL be a lamp as well!

The main body is one of those 8" acrylic globes found in the lighting section at home depot. The two ports are cereal bowls and for the top and bottom they are 3 inch PVC couplers with more bowls. Finally a brass ring for the handle.

I think I've found my solution for the lighting- 200,000mcd/200 lumens green LEDs... 10 of them on either side. One LED at that power is bright enough to light up a room at night (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XfXKHth8cVc), so I think putting 10 on either side with a chrome focusing cone like one fount in a flashlight should do just the trick. And sinde they're LEDs, they won't pump out heat and should last for about 100,000 hours before dropping intensity. So... win!

You should post a step by step how to, I'm sure that there are plenty of folks on here that are willing to take a crack at this.

My wife and I are currently working on a Hal costume for ECCC, I'd love if I could get my hands on one of these!

That looks amazing. Any instructions you could post would be greatly appreciated. I've been planning to make one myself and hearing of any issues you might have ran into during the process would definitely benefit me. Again, amazing job!

Default Guy Gardner power battery

Haven't finished my own battery build yet, but this was a commission I got to build a Guy Gardner battery. Here's the reference photo I based the build from...

And here's the build itself...

Enjoy.
