DC announced today new details surrounding its young reader imprints\u2014DC Zoom<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0DC Ink<\/strong>\u2014and revealed first looks at titles scheduled for release in fall 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The cornerstone of today\u2019s span announcement are two new graphic novels from DC\u2019s middle grade imprint\u2014DC Zoom<\/strong>\u2014that will debut in October 2019 and the official synopsis of Green Lantern: Legacy<\/a><\/em>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

\u00b7       THE SECRET SPIRAL OF SWAMP KID <\/strong>by acclaimed writer and illustrator Kirk Scroggs tells a lighthearted coming-of-age tale about a half-human\/half-plant boy named Russell Weinwright. The book is completely written and drawn in first-person journal entries and features a fun, innovative lined notebook-style format.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00b7       DC SUPER HERO GIRLS: AT METROPOLIS HIGH<\/strong> marks the first DC Super Hero Girls (DCSHG) graphic novel by new series writer Amy Wolfram. Wolfram is joined by DCSHG veteran artist Yancey Labat for this original story set in the same universe as the new DC Super Hero Girls<\/em> animated series created by Lauren Faust that will air Sundays at 4 p.m. ET\/PT on Cartoon Network beginning March 17, 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

THE SECRET SPIRAL OF SWAMP KID<\/strong> and DCSHG: AT METROPOLIS HIGH<\/strong> will be joined this fall by previously announced DC Zoom titles by Meg Cabot and Cara McGee, Shannon and Dean Hale with Victoria Ying, and Minh L\u00ea and Andie Tong, among others. Books published under the DC Zoom banner target middle grade readers ages 8-12 andtell stories focused on friends, family and growing up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

DC has also confirmed on-sale dates and shared early looks at forthcoming titles from\u00a0DC Ink<\/strong>\u2014the publisher\u2019s new young adult graphic novel line.\u00a0DC Ink<\/strong>\u00a0books feature thought-provoking stories for readers ages 13+ that focus on everyday aspirations, struggles and triumphs. The current\u00a0DC Ink<\/strong>\u00a0slate for fall 2019 includes\u00a0HARLEY QUINN: BREAKING GLASS<\/strong>\u00a0from Mariko Tamaki and Steve Pugh, and Marie Lu\u2019s\u00a0BATMAN: NIGHTWALKER<\/strong>\u00a0prose novel adapted in graphic form by Stuart Moore with art by Chris Wildgoose.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But because we’re huge Green Lantern fans here, let’s check out the official synopsis of the upcoming Green Lantern: Legacy book from the DC Zoom imprint, shall we? We shall. Written by Minh L\u00ea and illustrated by Andie Tong, here is that synopsis:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thirteen-year-old Tai Pham lives in the apartment above his grandmother\u2019s store, where his bedroom is crammed with sketchpads and comic books. But not even his most imaginative drawings could compare to the colorful adventure he\u2019s about to embark on. <\/em><\/p>

When Tai inherits his grandmother\u2019s jade ring, he soon finds out it\u2019s more than it appears. Suddenly he\u2019s being inducted into a group of space cops known as the Green Lanterns, his neighborhood is being overrun by some racist bullies, and every time he puts pen to paper, he\u2019s forced to confront that he might not be creative enough or strong enough to uphold his ba\u2019s legacy.<\/em><\/p>

Now Tai must decide what kind of hero he wants to be: will he learn to soar above his insecurities or will the past keep him grounded? <\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
