I figured with Fearless out of the blog game for the moment, I might as well step my game up and leave him in my dust. :P So with that, I give you my Pick of the Week, which is simply my review of the best issue I read out of all(including Marvel/Image/Vertigo) of my comics that week. This week was pretty good, I would rate most of my books 4 starts but there was only one 5 star book this week. That book was Batman #681 written by Grant Morrison with art done by Tony Daniel(cover by Alex Ross).

Batman #681 is the conclusion to the RIP storyline that has been outstanding and Grant sure didn't fall off with the last issue. In this issue, Batman is buried alive and supposedly poisoned but in true Batman fashion he switches the poison and breaks out of the coffin. Then proceeds to kick the Black Glove's ass all over Arkham Asylum. Dick Grayson aka Nightwing makes his return after being poisoned himself earlier in the arc. He joins Batman in the ass kicking and holds off the BG while Batman takes off after the leader, who is still claims to be Thomas Wayne(Bruce's father) onto a roof where he is then shot. But we all know that bullets can't stop Batman, and he leaps after the leader(real name is possibly Mangrove Pierce aka Dr. Hurt), who is now inside a helicopter above the roof.

Batman breaks his way into the helicopter sending it to a watery grave below complete with explosion. In cliffhanger cliche, Batman's body is not shown after the explosion. Tony Daniels art is once again amazing. Every one page spread is done PERFECTLY. If you can find one error in this issue then you truly define nitpicker. His art is crisp and does a terrific job in matching Grant's storytelling.

Final Rating: 5/5
