2010 marks another year of Comic Con madness. As always, this blog is going to be visual-oriented. I like telling a story with photos rather than words so if your ISP is slow on the uptake, you may be here for a while.
Well, the day started off well enough… that is until it was time for the flight to take off from No Cal. Our flight was delayed an hour because we were waiting for the two Pilots to arrive from 2 different flights. Since it’s Southwest Airlines, you get what you pay for. This seriously threw a monkey wrench into my plans as I had plans to check out a couple of early Thursday panels. That went down the drain.
When people got restless and started inquiring on what the delay was, nobody knew anything UNTIL the pilots showed up. A very inauspicious start to the day. The flight itself was decent enough, but once we arrived, my suitcase was missing. I waited around for it to emerge from the baggage conveyor and nothing. After 20 minutes of wasting my time, it turns out they put it on an earlier flight because I arrived at the Airport several hours early. Thanks for relaying that information, dicks! My suitcase was sitting off in the corner behind a damn barricade.
We caught the airport shuttle to pick up the rental and low and behold, there was a line of 20 people in front of us. Unless you’re getting a really good discount, NEVER use Hertz for your rental car needs. After a 30 minute wait for the rental, we THOUGHT we would be on our way, but no! We completed the paperwork for the vehicle and they directed us to the parking lot where the car was parked with the key in the ignition. We noticed that the car had some scratches and scrapes all over the bumper and the front grill was missing so I went back and asked why there was nobody to inspect the car before we left. They said we have to do it for ourselves!! Are you shitting me?!? That’s your fucking job, not mine. I was livid! The worst part was they didn’t even mention it when we completed the paperwork so if I brought the car back with the already existing damages, they could have charged me for it!
They gave me an inspection form that I had to fill out myself so we ended up spending another 15 minutes inspecting the damn car for scratches and what not. In hindsight, I should have put a couple of additional dents and scratches on the list and rammed that car into a wall a couple of times.
We FINALLY got our car and were on our way to the Hotel… or so I thought. I used Yahoo to map the driving directions and we ended up lost. In the area of the airport, there are SEVERAL unmarked streets. In addition, Yahoo had 2 streets on the directions that apparently didn’t even exist. We had to stop and ask for directions at a marina restaurant. At this point, I’m steaming because this day has been total shit mired in delays and nonsense. The marina restaurant was FILLED with hotties (which made us feel a bit better) and thankfully, they showed us the way.
When we arrived at the Hotel, my friend and I were supposed to have separate rooms with a single King sized bed. Well, all they had was rooms with 2 queens… and both my friend and I are well over 6 feet tall. My friend, K-OS was irate, but they ended up giving us our entire stay with free parking, which would have been $35 a day or some ridiculous amount. So that kind of alleviated the issue.
After we took the shuttle, we finally arrived at the Convention center around 4pm.
We were hoping to arrive at 1pm at the latest. All the panels I was looking forward to were long gone at this time so I was pissed. I was really looking forward to the WWE Panel so I could meet Eve Torres and the Miz, but that opportunity went up in smoke. Same with the Burn Notice panel and Caprica.
Normally, I take plenty of pics, but I was in a rotten mood so for the most part, I didn’t even bring out my camera… well, until I saw hotties at the DC Booth… and that POWER BATTERY!! Beware my power, bitches!!
I don't know if it's just me, but practically every girl dressed up as Arisia is automatically hot, full of awesomeness and win!!
They certainly got me in the mood for some photo taking… and from then on, it became click here, click there, click everywhere!
Wow! Velocity! Unique.
Bad boys, bad boys! What cha gonna do? I know what I would do.
Even Sarah Palin wanted in on the action.
Morrigan was smoking hot, but the jerkoff wouldn’t allow us to take pics with her. He used the costume as an excuse, but he was probably her jealous, overprotective boyfriend.
It’s raining men… almost.
Stop the presses! It’s the most beautiful lady at the con! How she was by herself the entire day was beyond me.
You know I had to get in on that sweet action. She was really nice too and didn’t have a problem taking pics with people… unlike some women. I don't understand people that dress up and don't want to take pics. If you don't want attention, don't dress up. Simple as that.
Joe Quesada, bitches! BE JEALOUS!!
Shortly after taking pics with Joe Q, I got a call from Jay Burg who told me where TheGoatLantern had his booth set up. We strolled over his way and met up for a brief chat.
Turns out him and his friends are real cool customers… and he’s shorter than me. Heh heh! He did point out that I was wearing Lugs boots, but that one inch wouldn’t have made a difference! Over the phone, Jay said that Goat was like 8 feet tall and would make me look like a midget! Ha ha ha! Hardly.
Mary Batson was cutie.
I never thought I would say this, but I'm kind of Slave Leia'ed out. It was like every other lady in costume was either Chun Li, Slave Leia or Batgirl. How about some originality, ladies?!?
There were a TON of Tony Starks and Iron Men on hand.
Supergirl and Supes
As I said before, almost ANY lady dressed as Arisia is full of awesome and win!
I tried getting my wife to wear this outfit, but she's not having it.
Here, we have the first Darkseid I've ever seen at a convention. His outfit is BADASS!! This dude even had the deep, coarse, gravely voice for the character too! I was impressed. Talk about playing a part to a tee.
I believe Supergirl's name is Jessica Phoenix. She saw me in my Morpheus gear and gave me her facebook addy so she can be my Trinity for next year. Cool!
I took a gander at some of the photos on her page and... hmm...
Not too bad... Not sure if she can pull off Trinity, but hey! If there's a chick with me, it'll get me THAT much more attention to feed my gi-normous ego.
During our first night in San Diego, we decided to hit up the Tilted Kilt as we've heard a number of good things about the establishment from various forum members.
I read some reviews online about the place and they were 50/50. There were a few reviews that completely trashed the place saying it was a Hooter's knockoff, but they're dead wrong! Hooters could get a complete overhaul and wish they could be as great as the Tilted Kilt. The place is like a sports bar, but the food is actually decent, and the women... Oh, the women! Let me show you what I'm talking about.
This is Jessica. She was such a sweetheart. I love mixed Black women! Hey! That's Derek Fisher on the TV in the background. Does that mean I'm gay?
Damn! She closed her eyes.
They were all cool with letting us take photos with them... I need a better camera.
Little Amber is holding my gun! The other girlie had my friend's sword for the pic and she said, "It's so big! I don't know what to do with it!" We all fell over laughing! Ah, cute airheads with big boobs. You gotta love em!
This redhead was smokin! I was feeling her... and she's holding my gun. Giggity!
...and who couldn't like a girl that likes Captain America?
Damn! Quite a few chicks were holding my gun that night. Must have been a good night!
These were some of the most friendly babes in San Diego! All of them were more than happy to take photos with us. My boy K-OS even got some numbers and facebook addy's... and he doesn't even have a Facebook account! Lucky bastage!
I think we ticked off a few of the girls by NOT asking to take pics with them. One girl told us, "FINALLY!!! I thought you guys would never ask!" when we asked to take a pic with her. This place was so cool that one of the girls gave us free drink cards AND the owner offered us free drinks!! It helps when you've been there 5 times in 4 days.
The following day, I was decked out in my Morpheus gear and ready to take the con by storm!
Here is the only pic my friends and I took together in costume. K-OS as Captain Morgan, Primus as Stormshadow and myself as Morpheus. Funny how there's always only one or two pics between our little group.
Kyle Rayner
Alan Scott!!
Me and the White Queen
Huntress, Nightwing and Red Hood
So sexy, Black Cat! So sexy!
This Batgirl was cute, but she had a bit of an attitude and didn't really want to take pics.
Ice was a cutie.
Seth Green, bitches!! He shook my hand and said, "Hey, can you give me the pill and get me out of the Matrix?" Everyone started laughing. He was cool!
Zatana was cute.
Red Sonja was incredibly sexy! All that sweet FLESH!
This chick was hot and sexy!
David Finch, bitches!!
He singed my Brightest Day books #0-5 and was cool enough to take a pic. I asked him about his sketches and he said he charges between $200 - $500. I really wanted a sketch to add to my WHAAAAAAAT?!?
No thanks, pal. That's WAY too much. I'd rather go to TJ and get a nice, ripe 18 year old hooker with green eyes and dimples and have money left over for drinks... and penicillin shots.
It's Blue Beetle being, well, Blue Beetle.
Gal Gardner!!
Roar! Very creative costume!.. or she fell into a container of mixed paint.
My boy K-OS found himself a fellow Pirate... and a hottie at that!
If she had her Sai weaponry, it would have been a better look for her. Maybe security took them away. I was harrassed a couple of times about my pistol.
Now, this was the hottest girl at the convention! Wait! Did I already say that? Well, both are 1a and 1b. I was really feeling this babe. She may have not been overly voluptuous, but she had everything that drives me crazy; the petite frame, the flat tummy, the tiny, defined ankles, the shapely legs, the french pedicured toes. I thought she looked absolutely amazing and I would have taken her home if I could. I don't think my wife would have appreciated the threesome thing though.
I saw her in the Video game Tournament room and stalked her for a photo. I even told her how amazing she looked.
*Russian Accent* Bathe her and bring her to me!
The Puppetmaster from Heroes, bitches!!
He was hella' cool and took pics with us for FREE!! He even did his trademark silence, "zip it!" move on me... and it worked!
This was the 3rd hottest babe at the convention. Too bad she was kind of a snob. I hate women that are hot as hell, but they know it and act accordingly.
Hal and a Guardian!
There were a TON of Poison Ivy's walking around. I think that character is an escape valve for when girls exhaust all other costume possibilities.
I wonder how this guy transformed. Probably with weed, a bong and a 40 oz.
Projectile spottted us and chatted with us for a few. Cool dude. I thought he would be a little more outspoken like his online personality, but it turns out that he's quiet and soft-spoken. Kind of threw me for a loop.
When we were outside waiting for Hall H to open up, Rody caught up with me. Initially, I didn't know who he was until he mentioned that everyone thought he was Icedog using a sock puppet account. In any event, he was another cool cat. I wish I wasn't in such a shitty mood otherwise I would have taken a pic with him. Why I was in a shitty mood is a tale for another time.
Anyway, they FINALLY opened up Odin's throne and let us sit and take pics on it. Throughout the con, the kept people away from it like there was something to steal. You couldn't even lean on it without some Blue-shirted Elite bureaucrat jumping down your throat. First, I had to do the classic Morpheus pose.
Then, I got creative with it.
Jerry the King Lawler, bitches!!
Funny thing was he was in a foul mood from what went down earlier at the con. Apparently, he had a raffle for the chance to meet and take pics with him; kind of like Olivia Munn, but nobody knew who he was so he got very few participants, if any. While we were taking pics, one of the guys saw him go into the restroom so I stalked him and waited for him to come out of the crapper and asked if I could take a pic with him. He was cool with me, but the next couple of guys that asked got the cold shoulder as he walked off. Sucks to be you!
Pedobear Alert!!
I hate to say this, but there were quite a few girls that looked like they were around 16, but they were absolutely gorgeous. This girl was very cute.
This girlie was really cute too!
This Tron chick had a sweet outfit.
Hawkgirl was looking good.
Even Jack was on hand to get in on the SDCC action.
X-23 was looking good!
I didn't know who these babes were, but they looked HOT! I almost asked to take the one in red home with me.
Another Supergirl and Batgirl.
*Peter Griffin* oh...OH...OH!! Shazam!!
Frost, Scorpion and Sub Zero were bad ass!
Awww yeah! It's awesome being the meat in a hottie sandwich. BE JEALOUS, bitches!
Rogue and Magneto
I really liked this babe. She asked to take a pic with me and I agreed. Afterwards, I asked to take a pic with her and she was stunned and asked, "You?!? With me?!? I would be honored!" She was so sweet... and she looked terrific. She was one of my favorite people.
She's holding my gun!
While I was trying to get her number, ERRRR taking pics with her, another babe that hung out with the Punisher wanted pics with me.
The problem was a HUGE crowd swarmed me and started taking pics with me so she stormed off in disgust. I hope she didn't think I was being a prick. I wanted to get a pic with her too. Maybe she was supposed to be someone important. Oh well.
Kill Bill chicks! I wanted Go-Go to do the cute wave and say "Hi-iiii!"
The cast of Fringe!!
I had a negative experience with Jasika Nicole (Astrid) at the WonderCon in SF. I went to her booth to get an autograph and take a pic with her and she straight big timed me. There was NOBODY at her booth and she acted like I didn't even exist! She was talking to her stooge handler so I stood at her booth for 30 seconds and she didn't even acknowledge me! Fuck that bitch! She's cute, but not that cute.
One of the security guards was being a prick until he saw who I was dressed as. He started talking to me about the movies and the character and ended up being a cool guy.
Lesson: It's takes twice the energy to be a dick than to be a nice guy.
Yummy hotties!
General Grevious!!
Too bad his handler was a dick and didn't allow him to stop and take pics. I wasn't going to chase his ass all over the convention so I took a side shot and let him walk off. Hint: if you're wearing a costume that you have a hard time getting out of, WEAR DIAPERS!!!
Mmmm!! Gypsies! I LOVED the way this babe caressed my chest when she took the pic with me. I almost got a woody.
Uh oh!! Pedobear alert!!
Sorry, she's young, but that brunette on the right is freaking gorgeous! My friend wasn't going to take a pic of her until I asked. He was afraid of looking like a dirty old man. Well, I am and I've come to grips and accepted it. Embrace the pervocity!
Two Phoenixes. Two great tastes that taste great together!
I'm having wet dreams of Genie.
Continuing the Pedobear alert, this Deadpool girl was so adorable!
I was trying to get a pic with her by herself and her douche boyfriend kept jumping in the viewscreen.
I almost wanted to pick her up and take her elsewhere so we could get a nice pic together... I wanted to smack the shit out of that other Deadpool. He acted just like Deadpool too! "Is sylent asassin gonna have to smack a bitch?"
Blackest Night!!
Street Fighter!! Dhalsim was bad ass! Cammy was a big girl, but she was very sexy.
Chun Li was cute.
Another Pedobear alert!
This girl was so adorable. She's going to be HOT when she gets older.
After we had our fill of pics for the day, we roamed around the Gaslamp and saw a cutie on a bike with the mini carriage thing. Since we've never done that, my boy K-OS wanted to check it out so why not?
She was petite and so cute. She's from the Middle East somewhere. I forgot where exactly.
I felt kind of bad because when we went up a small hill she was struggling trying to carry our fat asses. I almost wanted to get out and peddle like Fred Flinstone to help her out. When we stopped, the poor thing was sweating profusely and out of breath.
She was so sweet. I offered to buy her a drink at the Tilted Kilt, but she said she didn't drink so I offered to buy her a soft drink, but she still declined. Oh well. I kind of wanted to put her in my pocket and take her home.
Well, after a few hundred photo ops, we were ready to retire and prepare for the long trip back to No Cal. San Diego is such a great city. The atmosphere is calm, the people are cool (aside from the Elite people that take their job WAY too seriously) and there's a ton of things to do in the Gaslamp quarter. Sucks we had to leave so soon. I LOVE SAN DIEGO!!! If we had time, we would have went back to the Tilted Kilt for breakfast and drinks! Damn traffic!
If you've never been to the ComicCon, you've got to find a way to go at least once to experience the mayhem first hand. The waiting in line for exclusives, the fanboy funk, the costumed hotties, the jumping through hoops... Every year, the ComicCon devolves and becomes Hollywood and more commercial than about actual comics. It's a far cry from its origin. Still, it's something you'll want to experience for yourself. As a comic fan, you owe it to yourself to become immersed in the festivities and get fat, bearded fanboy stink all over you. Well, they're not all fat and bearded. Just look at the pics I took. It's definitely worth going. Like Nike's slogan says, "Just do it!"
The San Diego Comic Con: Learn it, Live it, Love it!

From all the panels I've attended in the past, the guests did their best to say nothing and usually what they say is information we already know.
