When did sinestro first get the yellow ring?

I remember the story when sinestro was banished by the guardians to the anti matter universe where he discovers Qward and the weaponers, but when does this take place? Im rereading emeralddawn II and he gets banished in that. When is the first appearance of sinestro having the yellow ring? Is there a book that collects the stories yet?

It happens in the 60's. During his second appearance.

His first was a story titled "The Day 10000 people vanished " or something close too it. But a few months later in his second appearance he pulls the ring out of a secret compartment hidden in his boot. And he has it ever since.

Actually yes. The Showcase presents Green Lantern Vol 1. It is a Black and White collection of GL's first several issues.

Green Lantern v2 #7 was Sinestro's first appearance. Green Lantern v2 #9 is when he first wielded the yellow ring.

Scenes of the GL #9 story were re-interpreted in the "Hal Jordan returns" arc that started in Green Lantern Vol 3 #100.

I cannot fathom the amount of goop Sinestro must go through in a year in order to keep his hair slicked back the way he does.
