That would depend heavily on how much cheaper that made the floppies. If they weren't much cheaper, then I assume even MORE people would "trade wait" than do now. Can they even afford to keep printing the floppies if too much of the audience goes to strictly trades?

I remember when trades were newsprint too. My collected edition of Emerald Dawn is on newspaper.

If DC would do it and knock a dollar off their price, I bet it would hurt Marvel.

Only a fool would pay $3.99 for a Marvel comic when he could buy a comparable DC comic for $1.99. Marvel would suffer a big hit in sales, and would be forced to copy DC and switch to newsprint too.
