I'm willing to give the fith (or sixth whichever way you look at it) green lantern a chance atleast.

Baz will by the 7th human GL.

Now that Jade no longer exists because her father is now retconned to only existing on Earth 2 and her father was retconned to no longer having any interest in women now she can never exist.

Taking into account the retcons he is 5th in the universe where he exists.

Y'know it's odd that I am so dreading this character (or so I have thought) due to his likelihood of sucking up page time that could better (IMHO) be devoted to the GLs we already have, even though I didn't have a similar reaction to Kyle, who's introduction led, essentially, to ALL other GLs getting the shaft.

I mean, I hated ET, thought Hal got a raw deal being shoved out in that sloppy and ill-conceived manner, and was miffed that John and Guy, who really didn't HAVE to have their status quo completely messed up by it, did anyway, but somehow it never, in my mind, reflected negatively on the character of Kyle, who I enjoyed from day one.

Yet here we have a new guy that isn't likely to have THAT drastic an effect on the rest of the GLs, and I'm rolling my eyes and sighing heavily already.

Is it just that I'm getting old? Is it some repressed hatred of Arab-Americans? Is it just that the notion of a car thief getting a ring sounds WAAAAY less promising to be something I'll enjoy reading about than an artist getting one? Am I just overall tired of everything Geoff is doing in GL, and so react to this in that light? Why am I reacting so much more negatively to this than Kyle's introduction?

Don't know Charlie Vick. Jade was a member of the GLC was she not? Then she is included.

Jade wasn't a GLC member, because when she was a GL, there was no GLC.

Charlie Vicker was a human member of the GLC, but he wasn't assigned to Sector 2814.

Jong Li was a human GL in ancient China, and presumably a GLC member, though there isn't any indication that he ever left Earth as we only have the one story about him.

Waverly Sayre was a human GL that lived during pioneer days in the U.S.(exact date not specified), also a GLC member, one who DID leave Earth.

There are other humans that have wielded a GL ring briefly, but they weren't really GLC members.

Do any of these folks still exist in continuity? Not likely.

Well I'm willing to give Simon a chance. I am glad his last name is Baz and not his first name. I am going to now refer to him as Simon. I hope we do see Sinestro and Hal in the next few issues.

Your not old or Racist or bigoted. Your just tired of seeing great characters getting absolutely no panel time for a pet project of a writer whose lost his mojo.

Honestly, like you I accepted Kyle because frankly Gerald Jones wrote Green Lantern into the ground. It was god awful boring and directionless. While I hated Hal going evil, I loved seeing him kick some serious ass for a change and I loved Emerald Knights and the Parallax View stories.

Green Lantern for the most part has been on a uptake with there being no need for a drastic shake up. Other than getting a creative writer on the title it's fine, no need for a new character to save the franchise other than to bolster Johns ego.

I detested Stargirl under Johns pen. A character supposedly about his sister, so I have no doubt Sharia Lantern will be some bullshit personal story he now wants to shove on to Lantern fans.

I wish this jackass would quit writing comics and go write novels. David, Metzler, and Rucka do that sometime why doesn't Johns? Get this dope away from characters I love to read.

Someone here said Johns explained that in his speech at the Arab museum in Mich., but I haven't heard what he said about it.

Just thought of something, does Sinestro count? He's not human, but he's one of the main green lanterns right now.
