  • DC Edge [Grifter, Voodoo, Etc...]

Stormwatch by Paul Cornell and Miguel Sepulveda debuts tomorrow, and it has become one of the DC New 52 titles I'm most looking forward to. Even though I've never read The Authority, my appreciation of Paul Cornell's work made this a comic that was always on my radar, and everything that I've heard about the book has made me anticipate it more.

I thought I'd create a thread to discuss the comic, which I think could be a real dark horse and emerge as one of the best of DC's new titles. To start, I'll post up this interview with Paul Cornell from Ain't It Cool, which contains a preview for the first issue:

You couldn't wait a day or two to see if there was any interest in creating a thread specifically for this? And not even an EDGE thread...tsk tsk

It was a little clunky when they tried to explain each members' powers but still very enjoyable

Yeah. That was rough. This was a huge disappointment. Miguel's art was not up to the high standard I had set for it. Maybe its the coloring that dulls it, because those pencils were amazing. Still, there are some (and by some I mean very few) interesting bits presented in this. I enjoyed the scene on the moon with the blades guy and the final page was interesting even as someone who knows nothing about these characters.

When I read the title of this thread, I thought it was a remake of this comic book series.

It's basically a remake of The Authority which spun off Stormwatch

Not too bad, but it's a pale shadow of its former greatness. (Especially the Ellis years and PHD.)

I never read The Authority, so that's some new knowledge dropped on me.

                          Yo.

Uve missed out on some fine storytelling then comrade; I think U can get the 1st 3 trades (all of Ellis' run) for a decent price nowadays, and I really recommend ya doing so.

after that, Id say go get his Stormwatch run (theres about 3 to 5 trades of them out there) as well, especially where U can see the the 1st Doctor 7 Engineer, as well as Midnighter & Apollo making a "stark" 1st appearance........

random question i know... but how pathetically depowered has Manhunter been now?

I mean this guy used to be up on Superman level of strength and endurance... now he can be knocked out with a single punch from a technologically enhanced human?

                              thats a bit pathetic
