Figured I might see who's going to this? I've gone every year except the first (when I didn't live in Chicago) but I don't think we've ever done a proper meetup or anything like that; we should do one this year.

I know Iggy's planning on coming and Tazz has come for the past few years as well (though I never ran into him).

I also registered for two panels this year, but I don't know whether or not I'll get them. Depending on if I do, Prime, GrayLantern, and/or Mewzard will probably be semi-forced to come. We might even get a WatchtowerStudios booth, assuming we have the money...

I'm not going to Wizard. It's right in the middle of Ramadan and I don't think it's a good idea to do a con without any hydration. That's why I didn't go last year either. Maybe next year.

Two more days! I figure maybe we could get a little bit of a meetup going. Anybody else planning on coming?

So my wife and I took a trip to Chicago the same weekend of C2E2, so I squeezed in about 3 hours to attend the con. I spent about 80% of my time waiting in lines in Artist Alley

Here are some pics from the event:

Chicago was very welcoming to the event much like San Diego.

My wife and I were at a deep dish pizza joint the night before and we ran into some guys that attended C2E2 on Friday and so I chatted them up. They told me there was a free shuttle about 6 blocks from my hotel. FYI, my hotel was like 3 miles away from C2E2.

The Block was the main area where merchandise could be bought. I heard the "Toy Hunter" Jordan Pembroke was at C2E2, but I wasn't able to see if he had a booth set up.

Here's a partial shot of Artist Alley. There were a lot of great artists and writers.

                Amanda Connor

                Jimmy Pamiotti

                Doug Manke was cool.

Ethan Van Sciver could not be bothered to sign anything as the mesage noted next to him. I came back after lunch but he wasn't at his booth.

                    Thanks!

Been very busy with work and personal life, but found some time to get some pics uploaded to share. And yeah, we were lucky with the weather, because the weekend before C2E2 there was heavy rain and floors, and after we left there were forecast for snow.

                    Here are some more pics:

Mike DeBalfo signing a few of my comic books

Oliver Coipel, this was the first time I've met him. I had five other comic books for him to sign, but I forgot to bring them. Here he's signing my House of M hard cover.

Skottie Young signing several of my variant covers

Greg Land, first time I met him. A lot of people have commented on how he draws women, in that they look like porn stars.

This is the land for the Alex Ross signing. I knew it was going to be like this and didn't bother to bring anything for him to sign.

Rick Remender, first time I met him and asked him to sign a few copies of Uncanny X-Force.

Joe Eisma, first time I met him and asked him to sign a few copies of Morning Glories

Nice Darth! You and Sylent are so good about pics. BTW, I did get a few at Wondercon. I got them on my iPhone though so it's painful to upload/transfer but one of these days I'll do it and post in the Wondercon 2013 thread!

So Darth I am curious, was it somewhat strategic to visit Chicago when C2E2 was in town so you could check it out for a bit or pure coincidence? Only 3 hours? Seems like you did a lot though in those 3 hours.

Speaking of the Toy Hunter, Jordan Hembrough, and my off topic mention of Wondercon in the C2E2 thread, he was also at WonderCon and I DID get some pics of him ... actually I got a few with him. I even bought a vintage Star Wars R2D2 figure from him. He was real cool. He even took a picture with my kids. They were filming and my buddy and I actually had to sign a waiver so we might be on TV when they run that episode. I also met and talked a ton with his buddy Mark that I noticed has been on the show a couple of times already. He was cool too. Maybe because the show is still so new but there were not very many people around and a lot people had no idea. I got like 10 people who were walking by that asked me who is this, why are they filming? You figure it being WonderCon and he being the Toy Hunter, more people would know but while these are often billed as pop culture events, it's still pretty niched. I remember I met Jeff Garlin from Curb Your Enthusiasm at Wondercon like 4 years ago and NO ONE recognized him. He was just walking the convention floor like we would so when I acknowledged him and asked for a picture he was totally cool and nice about it. I think he was just happy someone knew him!

It wasn't pure coincidence. My wife wanted to go to Chicago for a few years because it was recommended by a few friends and she's a fan of the reality show Giuliana and Bill which features Chicago. So we planned on going in the spring and picked the weekend of C2E2.

I found Chicago a great place to visit, especially if you appreciate great architecture, deep dish pizza and shopping. We were only in Chicago for two full days, so I had to cut C2E2 short. I wanted to go to the United Center to see the Michael Jordan statue, but couldn't find the time. I barely made it to Wrigley Field before we had to head to the airport to go back home.

That's so cool. Well, people probably don't know of Jordan The Toy Hunter because it's only in it's second season and not many people tune into the Travel Channel. I would have liked to checked out his booth and see what vintage toys he had. Maybe Jordan will be at SDCC.

                        More pics from C2E2

                        J. Micheal Stracynski, first time I met him. Here he's signing both volumes of my Superman Year One hardcovers. I had other books for him to sign, but I forgot them at home.

Stracynski was giving free variant copies of TEN GRAND and is sitting with Ben Templesmith and I think, Bill Sienkiewicz.

                        Another shot of Artist Alley

                        Marvel booth giving away swag.
