The sequel's not a guarantee yet, not by a long shot. I've heard that the goal is $325 million worldwide before they greenlight a sequel.

Yeah, too many shots in space make it look like characters floating around a blue screen. I'd like the space scenes to look more like they were really IN outer space.

I wasn't talking about tone or story... I was talking about filming on real sets with actors and puppets instead of filming on a green screen with CGI characters.

Doc has it right. Green Lantern is the modern day Phantom Menace.

im telling you man watch moon by duncan jones because he is one of those guys who dosent use over the top cgi.

he used real sets for the film. hell he didnt have a big budget like 200 million

the thing about that movie that gets me mad is it is highly under rated.

Visual effects and CGI weren't the problem of Green Lantern. Even some of the harshest critics complimented the film's look. Spend money to fix the script.

I agree wholeheartedly...

HOWEVER..........

I think it's indicative of the larger problem... which was that the people in charge of this movie were attacking it from a "style over substance" strategy. And that's bogus.

Well you can only speak of the CGI, which made it into this movie ...possible plot holes could result in the fact, that they donīt have the money, the capacities and the time to finish certain scenes, which were originally in the script.
Believe me FX was a problem in the postproduction of this movie, which has a director and a producer, who never had any experience in handling CGI- heavy movie production.

^ If that's the case, they should have tailored the script with their CGI capabilities. The purpose of CGI is to enhance the story and not tell it.

Well if you have a hero with a CGI -suit ( which I think looks fine and was a good idea and worked in iron man) it can be difficult.

They weren't looking for GL specifically to fill that void but Superheroe movies in general. Depending on how the DVD sales are they could decide to go with a different franchise.

Could be difficult, but not impossible. Again, cut out Parallax from the film and use that CGI towards Hal.

Unfortunately, outside of Batman and Superman, what does DC have to offer? I mean, Green Lantern was pretty much the focus of DC's last two major cross-over events in Blackest Night and Brightest Day.

The headline says a sequel is a Go, but the actual article not so much:

Quote:
it looks like Warner Bros. is brushing that dirt off their shoulders and giving the green light to a 'Green Lantern' sequel anyway
I'd wait for some official word from DC or WB.

I think if Wonder Woman and Aqauman are done well you could create successful movie franchises around them. If you had those two and assuming that WB's plan to reboot the Batman franchise goes well and that the Man of Steel is a success, I don't think having a strong GL franchise would make or break them in the superhero game (obviously it would help).

I doubt very highly that people would go see a movie about Aquaman.

I know I wouldn't.

I don't think even I could be bothered to see an Aquaman movie in the theater...and I have a full longbox of Aquaman comics!

Kid's would love it at least, they love sea creatures.

I'd see it assuming that there were interesting enough casting/director/marketing...

but I wouldn't expect it to do well.

I'd probably would go see it, but I don't think it would be a mega franchise.

When I think of a Aquaman movie, I cannot help but think of the tv show Entourage and James Cameron directing the film and it making more money than Spider-Man opening weekend.

Wonder Woman might work, but it would have to be a better movie than Green Lantern. It would have to follow a path set by Thor in dealing with her script and character.

This fan made trailer is pretty sweet. Lynda Carter makes me want to see this movie.

You mean like Disney's The Little Maid?

Aquaman the Musical

Well obviously it would have to be well made. My vision for an Aquaman movie would take place almost entirely underwater, you could make the scenery/setting as interesting as outer space/different planets. I want to see people riding giant seahorses stabbing each other with tridents and fighting sharks goddamnit! You could maybe even go along the lines of the JMS Brave and the Bold issue where Aquaman/The Demon team up every year to stop Cthulu from from breaking through to conquer Earth.

If we're talking about creating a franchise that becomes a cornerstone of WBs superhero plans then I think that goes without saying. You could probably create something epic using her Greek mythology background.
