I'd love to see more Alan and especially for him to get a modern GL ring.

This is one of those things that most people will proclaim is a stupid idea until DC actually does it. And then all of a sudden those very same people will proclaim that it's a wonderful idea.

Yes, it should happen.

It's a stupid idea, it's insulting to the character, it's a step down power-wise and requires him to suddenly start taking orders from the blue man group.

But I do really, really want to see Alan more involved in the Green Lantern books. He should be.

A step down in power is not a step down for a character. And he wouldn't necessarily have to take orders from anyone.

would be good if there was some threat that the other GL's can't handle and the guardians have to call him in to help.

I like Alan as he is now, indirectly aligned to the other green lanterns, but yet different. The elder stateman, as it is.

As far as I'm concerned Alan Scott is not a Green Lantern (GLC), and never will be. He might help, but he'll never be a member.

So, basically, the big idea is to make Alan like every other GL out there...

It might make for an interesting miniseries or special, but not really for a new direction. Making Alan into a sci-fi hero is like when DC tried to make Hal into the Specter; a supernatural hero.

Spy, why do you have such a passionate urge to see Alan as a Corpsmen? What do you think it'll bring to his character? Im honestly just interested to see your point on this one.

Um, because it might make EW a better comic.

Unless you prefer Sodam Yat, that is.

That's a stupid reason for taking away what makes Alan Scott special. When we all know Emerald Warriors won't make it past issue 15

I don't know that, because it ain't gonna happen. It seems to be leveling out in the high 30Ks, and you have to drop to 17K before you're canceled. No way it'll drop that far.

It could be selling a lot better though.

Awful idea. Alan is JSA all the way, not another Corpsman.

And if I wasn't so lazy, I'd merge this with all the other versions of this thread!

You want to make Alan a Green Lantern JUST to stick him in EW? Thats the crappiest reasoning Ive ever heard of.

I'm pretty sure I've answered this before... but here we go again, No we don't need Alan as a Green Lantern he's already a Green Lantern..just not a corpsmen. I do think he needs a title of his own but thats about it.

No offense to Alan Scott fans, but the original GL was a generic pulp era superhero comic. It's value to me is historical & for the charm of the artwork.

John Broome & Gil Kane knocked it out of the park in '59 with their reboot. I actually hate having this rogue "green lantern" running around, not fitting in. It's just the DC way to keep almost everything they've pubbed since the first issue of Superman in continuity. I think they should have retired the "original" GL after rebooting the mythos.

There isn't much I like about Scott's garish costume, mystical powers or previous adventures (another all-powerful superhero fighting thugs & spies, yawn.) All of it pales in comparison to Oa, the Guardians, the Corps etc.

But every character has their fans. This one never worked for me...

Wasn't that Kyle as Ion? Didn't work out so well.

Alan just needs to be written and drawn well. Just like every other character.

well isnt Alan technically apart of the actual corps anyway? im almost 100 percent sure that when the star heart was first coming to be it crashed into a dead lanterns lantern and that combined with a bunch of built up(ancient) magic which then over time evolved into the star heart.
