Well that's only exciting if the first movie is good enough (and the story structured in a way) that four more movies seem like a good idea.

Agreed. I don't want more stories in the Potterverse no matter what their quality. But I will want them if they are worth it.

The real meaning behind Snape's first words is absolutely heartbreaking

The first, almost definitely. Depp has flat-out said he absolutely does not care what films he stars in anymore, so they can be as wonderful or as shitty as possible and he'll do them.

So I just saw the movie. Good but not great. Don't know how they'll make this into a franchise.

Harry Potter is finally coming to comic books in an unlikely way - as part of the Orlando Pulse nightclub shooting benefit comic book Love Is Love, in an officially authorized piece by legendary illustrator Jim Lee.

Lee's piece (with colors by Mark Chiarello), was revealed in the New York Times, and will appear in Love Is Love, produced by IDW in conjunction with DC Comics. It depicts Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, Ron Weasely, and Albus Dumbledore conjuring a rainbow with a quote from Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire that aligns with Love Is Love's pro-equality message, which reads “Differences of habit and language are nothing at all if our aims are identical and our hearts are open.”

The quote comes from Dumbledore himself, who Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling has said in recent years was written as gay, though this was never confirmed in any of the published novels.

The piece was produced with Rowling's approval - the only such approval the author has given for use of Harry Potter imagery in official comic books. DC President Diane Nelson has long worked with Rowling in her dealings with DC-parent company Warner Bros. in the production of the Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts films.

Proceeds from Love Is Love will go to Equality Florida to benefit the victims of the Orlando Pulse nightclub shooting and their families. The one-shot will be on shelves December 28.

^There have been too many Americans playing notable Brit parts anyway. They made good casting choices in those movies.

Ayn Rand's Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Objectivism

This needs to be a real book right the hell now.

“Everything that is possible is fair,” Harry reminded him gently. “If he is able to purchase better equipment, that is his right as an individual. How is Draco’s superior purchasing ability qualitatively different from my superior Snitch-catching ability?”

You can thank Rowling for that. She wanted only U.K. actors for the main characters. She was very specific about that.

I didn't know that. Good for her. Yeah, you see these Dickens or Austen adaptations and half the cast will be Americans playing Brits. Some of them do a fine job, but why do it? It's not like we've run out of talented British actors.

[Actually, I do know why. It's because American producers perpetuate the cycle that Americans want all their movies Americanized as much as possible.]

Harry Potter is 38 today (less than a year younger than me), which also means JK Rowling is 53.

They get better as you progress. It could be my bias against child actors, but the first few are not that great. You also have to try to turn your brain off a little because there are SOOOO many plot holes and moments that just make you scratch your head. The plots are also not the best. To sum it up, Harry always (raws mangazuki) over-hears something that is directly relevant to what he has to do next, a magical item or spell will always appear at the exact right moment, the first 3/4 of the film will be a red herring chase and the last 1/4 of the film will be the true villain revealing his entire plan to Harry (very reminiscent of Scooby-Doo).

With all that being said, the world is interesting and does manage to entertain, if you can manage to hold down the urge to scoff at the screen every 5 minutes and just accept it for what it is; a children’s story told by an imaginative but not very thorough author.

In The Goblet of Fire couldn't fake Moody have just made a quill into a port key. "Hey Harry hand me that quill." Boom in the cemetery.
