My hope is for a few animated straight to DVD movies to provide closure. Or give us the sinestro corps war.

Well, it's not without precedence. And while it may not be CN's MO, DC and the WB are OK with it (sorry for all the acronyms).

I can see a 2 part dvd / Bluray Sinestro Corps War being made. DC animated movies are done well and sell well. This kind of 2 parter would..imho..sell pretty good too. The only question is..would WB make it?

I doubt there will be a followup dvd to the show. I'm sure there will be other GL straight to dvd releases, but the specific people who do the show will be reassigned to other projects by then. Whoever does any movies will be a different crew.

We already know Volpe is working on another DC project already. And with his background, I doubt that its a direct-to-dvd ANYTHING and certainly not GLTAS related.

Right, but he did say he'd be willing to continue it. I agree, it's unlikely, and it certainly isn't happening tomorrow, but it's not completely 100% impossible (mind you, I'm still waiting for the sequel to Buckaroo Banzai ).

i would accept a couple of straight to dvd continuations. Either movies or episodes. Honestly, i feel as though the animated movies they keep putting out albeit i love them, are mostly batman/superman stories.

In other news. Something I found interesting. A Veronica Mars kickstarter raised 2 million dollars in less than a day. Granted an old cult tv show and a current CGI shows are different things, I wonder if a kickstarter would be a viable option for this show later on (don't know if the idea was brought up before)

I think it would work, I was working at the Dallas All-Con last weekend and the buzz about the GLTAS being canned what a rip off it was.

I'm having a hard time picturing DC or Warner going the Kickstarter route to fund a GL project (or any project, for that matter). And without their participation, I'm assuming that it couldn't legally be done.

Veronica Mars is a WB production, so they aren't against the idea. It would just have to be spearheaded by someone working on the project with a greenlight from TPTB to go ahead with the kickstarter.

Guess you're right. Though in the case of Veronica Mars, the person spearheading it is the creator of the character, is it not?

For the GL show, that role would rest with DC Comics. They have a whole division dedicated to just this sort of project. I'm having a hard time picturing them letting anybody go the Kickstarter route to fund a project with one of their characters, rather than making a pitch to that division and letting THEM make the decision of whether to fund it.

I'd love to be wrong, of course. I would totally fund a Kickstarter for an extension to the series with at least some part of the current creative team behind it. I'm just having a hard time picturing it going down that way.

Well, we could always organize a hunger strike in Burbank.

The problem is it would still be on Cartoon Network, and they would just go out of thier way to burry it again. I would love to see the WB start doing Saturday morning cartoons again though. I think they should move to hand drawn animation though, most people wanted it and they were saying that the CG was admittedly expensive.

This! A kickstarter wouldn’t work at all. Cartoon Network simply wouldn’t care.
