At first I thought it was retarded to have both the same weekend too, but then I realized that it is great. I can request the weekend off at work and be able to hit both up. I went to Big Apple Con last year , and it was fair. There is no DC booth at Big Apple Con, apparently they are feuding with the organizer. NYCC should be better, and this year it is doubled up with the Anime Con or something. Get tickets early, and get there early, I hear it is a mad house at the Javitz Center.

The only reason Big Apple CC was ok was there was no other con going on at the same time in the same city, it will suck this year trust me.

How's the weather in October? The wife and I were thinking about making the trip out there for the NYCC.

It's a money issue right now. I'd really like to go though. Neither one of us (me or the Wife) has ever been on the east coast. The Statue of Liberty is one of the Landmarks on my list to see.

I understand, but perhaps you can sell a few things on eBay or something. Since you were talking about have a kid after you got married, it's better to travel now.

The way my wife and I make travel plans is to buy the plane tickets first. Jet Blue is your best bet for the cheapest fares to New York. You can book a hotel room later. Once you book your flights, you'll go.

I suppose prices in NY will be on par with prices in the Bay Area. That's not a good thing.

I have to discuss it with the wife some more. So far, we've only been mulling it over. Nothing too serious. She would rather go to Orlando for Disneyworld, I'm sure.

Well, if you go to Orlando in August, the Star War Celebration V is taking place there. Best time to goto Orlando is in November but November to Feb should be good as it's not hurricane season.

I would buy you tickets to NY from Jet Blue and use Hot Wire or Expedia to book your hotel.

We'll have to check our finances and then decide. I haven't even tuned up the vehicles this year because of the cost of my wedding.

When booking Hotels, I usually check prices first on Expedia and Travelocity (which are usually the same) then AAA with my Membership discount. Usually, AAA can get me a better deal. I wish that was the case for airfare.

Try using Kayak.com. There are some hotels that will allow you to book a room and pay upon arrival. It also has comparative prices on flights. My wife uses this all the time.

Big Apple Con will be a joke, no DC, no Marvel, no panels. The only reason to go would be if you just want to meet some crappy celebs or meet one of the few writers/artists that are there. Ethan Van Sciver will be there, probably the best comics guest they have.

I'll be at NYCC, where the real action is. DC, Marvel, panels, big names in comics, and most importantly there will likely be a Green Lantern movie panel.

BACC changed its dates to the week before NYCC about two months ago.
