Default Gamer's Syndrome

Any other gamers here suffer from this? Its when you look at the world and see nothing but roles of the dice.

Its like when you're watching a movie... TAKEN for example.

The scene comes up where he's looking at the picture on his daughter's cell phone and notices the dude in the mirror.
WOW... HE JUST ROLED A CRIT PERCEPTION/SPOT CHECK.

Or the scene where he gets pulled out of the Taxi and hits his head on the pavement.
DAMN!!! HE JUST FAILED HIS INTIMIDATE CHECK ON THE DRIVER, AND THEN FUMBLED HIS REFLEX SAVE!

I know it can't jsut be me... I have a friend who has been suffering from it alot lately, too... so, yeah.
It just made me curious if anyone else has ever suffered from this bizarre side effect of gaming.

So... have you?

I consider myself a huge gamer, and play RPGs that use the system that you're talking about. Not once have I ever seen the world like that though...seems like that would suck.

I used to be an avid gamer, but I never had an outlook quite like that. I had something we called the "Nintendo finger." I could almost make my finger vibrate like the Flash for maximum firepower when hitting a button on the controller.

When Grand Theft Auto III first came out I played it way too much... so much so that from time to time when I was out driving I would find myself thinking about hopping out of my car and stealing other cars... does that count?

I'm a huge gamer, but I haven't had any problems other than a bit more aggression. Other than that I'd say I'm okay. It's sad to hear about the stupid people who try to play GTA in real life though. Really knocks down the game and it's really good. I think they should remake San Andreas for the 360, cheats and all. Just add rag doll and better graphics... But no no other side effects.

An intimidate check is the d20 roll you make when you want to intimidate someone... if you're successful, they basically do one thing that you tell them to do. In game, you would usually use this to make an enemy stand down and stop fighting you, but in the movie, TAKEN, he obviously had told the man to "DRIVE!" But he failed, and the guy got out of the car and ran.

Wrong kind of gamer. You guys are video gamers. I'm talking about actual gamers.

No. I basically stopped playing video games a few years ago, no longer saw the point. Once in a while I'll have some beers and cruise around in Driv3r or (gasp!) Driver 2, but that's about it.

They have by and large lost their appeal to me. I fail to see the point of them anymore. On that note, I also rarely watch TV anymore either.

I basically just like GTA style games where you can cruise around a city and stuff, but it's more fun to do that in real life anyway (except gas is a bitch).

Can't relate to the rpg stuff but as someone who plays alot of shooters I can relate to sitting at a red light and feeling like green the fuck up already.

This happens to me alot when I watch or play or read of something in particular. Like if I watch too much anime I'll see people in chibi form o_O
While at work when stacking things or something to that effect I'll see everything in tetris mode.
