It might've been when you said you were Undead Evil Bill Hicks.

Warren Ellis has created a Career writing super-hero comics driven by his hatred of them.

People say the same thing about Garth Ennis, Alan Moore, and even Frank Miller.

At this point, if someone says that about you, it's a sign that you're creating great work.

I get Warren and Garth confused sometimes because they're hatred is similar and their names are too, but I wouldn't really compare their works. Though I may get confused with the two, they have very distinct writing styles and very good books.
As for Alan Moore, I know he loves heroes. He's said he loves heroes. He just finds them silly. Watchmen, the Killing Joke and other such books just show how silly and yet how dramatic such a silly idea is if taken seriously. Tom Strong for me is proof that he doesn't hate Heroes like Garth or Warren.

And Frank Miller. Well by now, you know how much I despise the sexist pig. Him hating heroes is like him hating hookers. The only way that would work if he was really writing satirical extremist works, but then (a la the prestige) the true trick would be how he acts outside, and no one would be able to be Frank Miller, without being Frank Miller 100%.

As for the idea that one's work is good because of their Hatred. Well, I think that makes them stand out more, not so much makes them better. If I were to name the best Comic writers in the biz, they all show deep affection for the idea of heroes, and most of them write them wonderfully and almost exclusively.

I'm not saying those four hate heroes, just that many people think they do.

The other statement is similar to the idea that male actors don't make it big in Hollywood until there's a gay rumor about them.

And those four are some of the biggest names in comics.

Well, whatever the reason for doing it, I debunked the idea of that.
