Default Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe

Sounds like soon we'll be pitting Sub-Zero and Rayden against Green Lantern and Superman.

Does no one find this at least a little interesting?

I mean, forget about the Mortal Kombat characters... you could conceivably just play Superman against Batman, and do a Fatality.

Wow, that looks pretty damn sweet. Kinda reminds me of the old Street Fighter Vs Marvel of the 90s.

Can't wait to see more on this, thanks for the info Andrew.

Ugh. I liked the last Mortal Kombat game, but I think this is an odd pair. I realy don't want to see capt marvel doing a fatality.

Reading more about it, it sounds like they're "toning down the violence"... so there may not even be Fatalities.

See, this strikes me as so odd and random that I can't imagine what they were thinking. It kind of put me in mind of the Star Trek/X-men crossovers they did a while back. It just makes me ask, "Why?"

I mean, I'm a big Star Trek fan, and I don't hate the X-men, but that just seemed like such a stupid idea that I couldn't bring myself to support it financially. I passed on the comic, and would only buy the novel used, so my purchase didn't send a message of support to the publishers. (I just HAD to buy the novel. As far as I know, I have a complete collection of Star Trek Novels, and have read them all. And let me tell you, Star Trek/X-men was FAR from the worst of the lot.)

No more odd or random than X-Men vs. Street Fighter... which became Capcom vs. Marvel, the second one of which is considered the greatest video game fighting game by many vets.

Maybe that sort of randomness is the norm for that genre of games, then. I've never been too fond of them, myself, since they require more reflex than thought (or perhaps that's just sour grapes because I suck at them. )

here's the official blurb...

When a cataclysmic force merges conquerors from two universes, conflict is inevitable. Kombat forces friends to fight, worlds to collide, and unlikely alliances to be forged. In order to save all they know, the heroes and villains of Mortal Kombat must wage war against the combined might of the DC Universe (DCU). How can either side prevail when rage blinds them to the dark threat poised to destroy them all?

For the first time ever Scorpion, Sub Zero and the warriors from Midway’s billion-dollar fighting franchise face off against Batman, Superman and other iconic and powerful DC Super Heroes, featuring signature attacks for both sides and a unique and intertwining storyline, written as a collaboration between the Mortal Kombat creative team and top comic scribes Jimmy Palmiotti and Justin Gray. Choose your side and challenge your opponents with a new fighting system including Freefall Kombat and Klose Kombat along with dynamic multi-tiered environments. Plus, pick your favorite character from MK or DCU and pursue a fighting adventure in the new single player mode with an intertwined storyline and two unique perspectives.

and you can find a trailer video here...

I'll probably get it for the novelty value if GL's involved, if not, just to see Wonder Woman Vs Sonya lol

GL's certainly involved. Just a question of which one... or maybe there's multiple (like, Hal, John, Kyle, and Guy could be the new Sub-Zero, Scorpion, Smoke, Reptile)

I hope there are several skins, perhaps as an unlockable or something, so I can use Kyle. MK games usually have tons of unlockables, so I wouldn't bet against it.

It's a random idea and a little goofy, but it could be fun. I'll probably buy it.

a create a fighter would be nice, Imagine hal or kyle in the game also, constant green aura when blocking a shield construct appears or special attacks include beams, boxing gloves, it could be good.

This just seems odd to me. I realy loved MK armegeddon, but this just seems dumb to me. It really just seems like since Marvel teamed with Street Fighter they are going to the other popular fighting franchise. To me it just seems to late. I would rather them have a Offical Capcom DC,VS Marvel with new stages and good music. I am sure it will make money, but we really alljust want a good DC VS MARVEL game.

Look at it this way: If you don't care about Mortal Kombat and it's characters, you can still play the game with your buddies and just NOT choose any Mortal Kombat characters when you play. You can sit there and just choose Superman, Wonder Woman, GL, Batman, Green Arrow, etc., and never pick the MK characters if you don't want to.

I agree with Rotten, I would've way rather seen Capcom vs. DC (or even better Capcom vs. Marvel vs. DC), but Capcom dropped the ball there for never expressing any interest in that.

I think that would have made for a better match. Mortal Kombat vs Soul Calibur.

Meh ... MK just doesn't seem to match up with DC. Marvel hit the jackpot when they teamed with Capcom to do the Xmen and MvC series. DC vs Soul Caliber would be much more exciting --> Soul Caliber has a much more robust fighting system and the weapons combat is unparalleled. Graphically, Soul Caliber has always been a notch higher than MK. Imagine this: John Stewart fighting with a glowing GL construct riot shield and baton dashes towards his opponent, shield bashes the guy back, then while floating backwards he whips out his GL snipe rifle and blasts the guy! It's like a freaking John Woo movie!

From the video that was available on Gamespot, the graphics didn't seem particularly outstanding (too gritty for my liking) --> to me it looks like a cheap rip off of Dead or Alive's multi-tiered stages (ie punch a guy through the wall and you're in another zone). And the fighting system? Klose Kombat and Falling Kombat ... ooookay guy ... sounds to me like its more of that MK3 button sequence pushing.
