Just read this last night, along with #2. I am really impressed.
Here I was, thinking Vol #3 was gonna suck. Not sure why I thought that. Just recently read through a good chunk of Vol #2 and assumed Vol #3 was going to follow straightforward and routine by-the-numbers superhero formula. But it doesn't, at least not so far. GL history continues to impress.
For a first issue it takes a lot of chances with the writing. We get some nice comedy when Hal stumbles into the JLA HQ. Not even a villain! I really liked this period when Guy Gardner was *truly* obnoxious and hateable.
