A whole lot of nothing. Every time something semi decent it about to happen, they cut to another storyline and next issue it's same arguments
They keep referring to the Earth wars
Cal keep telling his gf he's not Tim Drake for the billionth time
Grifter and Susie 50 or whatever her name is fight a another set of Omacs and something about Earth 2 we don't know about
Batman Beyond still arguing with a bunch of nobodies, still fighting over whether or not to infiltrate Terrifictech
At least Lois got a vision from E2 from that glow arrow.

ps does Lois know that Clark is Superman

Futures End #15 preview

Looks like we get a healthy dose of "Superman" in this issue. Anyone think this is actually Superman, or someone else wearing the S? At first I thought maybe it was The Eradicator, but his speech doesn't fit with any previous incarnation. Then I thought it might be Booster Gold in disguise, which is still where I'm leaning. Especially with the yellow/gold flight trail he leaves behind.

Also wondering if we'll get another flash-forward to the future with the cover the way it is.

I think it's Val-Zod or it's somebody else.

Could somebody tell us who the robot thing was from the #8 cover? I wanna pick up this series but I'll probably wait for trades to get the whole story...

It's apparently Brainiac, though it looks like a robo-Parasite body.

It looks like a robo-Parasite, but the tomb it first appeared in seemed to have Apocalyptian markings on it.

I thought of him as well, but haven't read anything with him in it to determine if his attitude fits. Would explain the mast though. I"m still hoping it's Booster.

The guy in S costume seems like a bit of an ass, I'm hoping it's Superboy prime so that he can just retcon this whole series lol

I don't see why you'd need to retcon it, as it may or may not even "happen" in the DCU. In fact I'm pretty sure the whole point of this series is just to give us an extended look at a future which could have happened, but because of the events in this story, won't.

That does raise a Q I have though - is Superboy Prime back now? Is he the new Superboy that's replaced the clone in Teen Titans?

It's important to remember that this story takes place five years from now in comic book time. Which is roughly equivalent to fifteen years real time. So even if this future was to come true, writers have fifteen years to work up to that point.

Which doesn't matter anyway, because there will certainly be at least one more universe-wide reboot/retcon/restart/Crisis by then.

No he's the future son of Supes and Lois, in a very convoluted story all started by scott lobdell.

The tie-in issues start tomorrow, and I'm looking forward to the insanity. Might grab Batwing if there's a spare copy, at least flip through it.

Looks like we were all way off, seriously did not expect him to be Billy Batson. Makes sense that he could fill the role nicely though.

Read Detective Comics: Futures End.

I actually rather liked it. The team-up was plausibly done, art was solid, made me think of the Cage-Connery film The Rock. Cover art's lovely, too.

Can I read just Detective without having to read Batman and the other books?

So I read Batgirl and Birds of Prey this time around.

Batgirl was also pretty good, though I'm really disappointed James wasn't killed (fuck that lousy character). I keep going back and forth on the Black Beast design: not a fan of Bane at all, but it isn't a terrible look as he usually sports either (speaking of, they completely imitate Nolan's version, putting him in a big coat and shit, but keep the usual mask). The multiple Batgirls I liked, and the ending was very good.

Birds of Prey was excellent. Honestly, Canary should kill and replace Ra's for real, it'd make the DC-verse so much better. Her outfit was a great alteration, even if it's really just a color switch. The fight at the end, and the ending itself, was also very well done.

Gonna be frank, I'm liking this nonsense so far. I flipped through Batman, but didn't much like the art and wasn't impressed with the story (but I was skimming, so I was barely reading).

Read Batgirl: Futures End #1 due to the three Batgirls. Immediately regretted it. The new creative team can't get here soon enough.

Swamp Thing: Futures End #1 wasn't terrible but it kind of felt extremely inconsequential, even more so than a tie-in to a gimmick event like this.

Grayson: Futures End #1 was actually pretty good, the backwards progression of the story was a decent change of pace and the Cluemaster's code was a nice story telling technique. I'd give it a 7/10.

I don't think I'll be picking up anymore tie-ins.

You're going to skip Vampire Batwoman? Man, I pity you. That looks to be just about the most fun of the tie-ins.

Aside from Detective Comics, that is. That one was very well done, as was Birds of Prey.

Eh, I'm not reading those series on a monthly basis so I'll pass.

I can't really bitch about DC pulling stunts like this and then pick up a bunch of books I wouldn't otherwise be interested in reading...I mean that's exactly why DC does an annual gimmick month.

Fair enough, but if you haven't already, I suggest flipping through the Tec tie-in, because it was fairly well done. And I haven't read an issue since the start of the Icarus arc, and barely any before then.

I literally just ordered whichever tie-in sounded cool to me.

Read Batwoman's tie-in.

Honestly, it was good for a brainless popcorn read, but it lacks what even Batgirl's tie-in had. I'll admit I haven't picked up very many issues of the series lately (I trade-wait like a motherfucker), but it feels like there should have been just a bit more background provided as to why things are like this.

I mean, I get that years have passed, but Kate just wanting to kill everyone seems a little left field. There's a pair of flashbacks, just panels, where it shows Alice and Kate getting along, but not much to lend support to what's currently happening as far as the vampire hunting team goes, or to explain why Kate is berserk like she is.

The art was good, though some of the angles and layouts could have been better. Seeing vampire Kate was good, same as it was during the opening nightmare a couple issues back, but the talent feels reined in when it should be letting loose.

For a one-shot, and at the non-3D price, it was worth it if you weren't expecting much (frankly, I feel it was better than Titans or B&R), but I still think Detective Comics was the best tie-in currently (didn't pick up WW or SWW yet).
