Well, now I'll never have to watch it for even a shred of cool visual flashes. Thing is a train wreck made entirely out of dumpster fires.
Granted, it's nowhere near the level of the originals or the Sommers movies, but I thought it had it's own little charm. I remember wanting to hate it badly, but after viewing, I was left somewhat satisfied. Like a C on a report card.

I feel like I "have to" see it just to be caught up on the Universal horror franchise, even if it's just so I can agree with the hate. That said, I feel the same about Dracula Untold and I still haven't seen that.

Oh, and this video reminded me why I don't watch Nostalgia Critic. He covers stuff I like, but he just grates on me.

Understandable. Untold, cliche in many ways though it was and falling short here and there, was strides above what anybody really expected of it, I feel. I think it knew its limits and stayed within them, just gunning for itself and therefore not letting its reach exceed its grasp, and that it worked very well in its favor.

I dunno if you'll love it, but you'll probably like it well enough.

Yeah, he's really different than James, at least when he's being The Critic (I know I've seen them play games together, star in each other's videos, so he's probably not as much of a prick as he seems).

Yeah, when he does a promo or guest he seems much more tolerable.

I am growing to really enjoy the Cinemassacre videos. I am much more into his movie videos than his game ones but they are very enjoyable. The other guy, the nostalgia critic? His voice and over acting is just annoying. I can't sit through any more of his videos.

When you really get to know their stuff, I think it's clear that James' heart lies more with the movie stuff and horror in particular (he's also a big Godzilla fan), though he is a knowledgeable retro-gamer. The other main guy (Mike) is more of hardcore gamer.

Speaking of which, I watched Dracula today with commentary. I clearly saw the cardboard, but the commentator definitely attributed it to a special close-up set-up that was forgotten.

I very much liked Untold because it humanized the character to a level I never saw before. Gave it that whole "plight of the monster" feeling.

I felt Dracula Untold was much better than it gets credit for. It was passable and had an interesting hook.

Speaking of reboots with lukewarm receptions, here's a clip of Englund talking about why the 2010 NoES didn't do well. He's much more positive than most fans are (personally, I like some things about the movie, but find it weak overall):

It: Chapter 2 to reportedly start filming this summer

Already couldn't wait, now can't wait even worse.

^Five of the seven kids are going to be at Monster Mania. I don't plan on getting their autographs, but I look forward to the panel.
