It was originally teased as being much shorter and *mainly* be a Manhattan vs Superman story... now it's 12 issues, takes place in the 90's IIRC, and involves Rorschach still being alive, Ozy and Lex teaming up, and a bunch of other cool shit. I personally can't wait.

Somebody at my LCS was really psyched for it too. I get it and I dig Rorschach myself. I just happen to feel personally that Watchmen should be one of those hands-off stories. That said, DC does own them (as well as the characters they were based on to begin with).

It's like when Swamp Thing was outside of the regular DCU. He worked well enough on his own and the stories were still good. However he's so much cooler now being in the same world as Superman, Constantine, and Etrigan...

And I've probably said this before but if TPTB are never planning on giving me another Question series in the DCU, a transplanted still breathing Rorschach will do just as well. The ultimate fish out of water story.

I don't think there's such a thing as a hands-off story any more. The reason is that any time you touch something that was once hands-off, people will get hysterically excited and will run out and buy it. You have to blame the readers for that.

Galactus should have been a hands-off, but people would reliably buy any story he was in until it finally became obvious to everyone that he should have never become a recurring character.

I have always refused to buy of read anything Watchmen related after the actual mini series. To me the series ends there and should never have been touched. Its one thing I refuse to give DC any money on to support.

Maybe DC can do a Watchmen/GL crossover story. All of the Minutemen and Crimebusters can be given various power rings. Rorchach can get a yellow ring. Nite Owl can get a blue one. Silk Spectre I and II can get violet ones. We can find out Abin Sur was really Eddie's father, so Laurie is his grand daughter.

I was going to call you a liar and swear that was Philip Tan but its missing the huge Philip Tan signature so it must be Sharpe.

Me: WHAT? I thought he said he'd never leave Marvel. What is the future of Powers (which is on a Marvel imprint)?

Wow that's huge. I'm not a huge fan of his writing but I also thought he was comfortable staying in the "House of Ideas" forever.

I'm going to be shocked if he doesn't end up writing one of the following: JSA, Shazam or Legion of Superheroes.

That is pretty big news. What are the odds DC won't throw a Bat title at him?

Give him Nightwing or Super Sons.

Shia MulletBeauf or Super Shias.

Shias for fucking arcs.

Probably pretty good but I hope they don't, let's spread the wealth around a bit.

I'm still hoping Tom King gets to do the LoSH, and Bendis needs to stay the **** away from the JSA. At this point I'm trying to figure out which DC concepts he could do the least amount of damage to. Maybe he could make Batman & the Outsiders sell? Perhaps he's the guy who can bring back an in-continuity Young Justice title? What if he's got a Hawk & Dove story floating around in that bald head of his?

I feel like Wonder Woman is probably the best fit for him, but I say that with very limited experience with him and female characters.

That's a point I've made in a general context. Don't gild the lilies. DC is bad about doing that. Instead, they should put popular writers on marginal titles. Green Arrow for example.

I do think GA is overdue for a huge spotlight, but it seems to be a creative groove right now.

I think generally, you're right about this, but that's nothing new. It's why Geoff Johns gets so much praise for spending two arcs on a lower tier character like Aquaman or Shazam. Hell in his interview about Doomsday Clock, he namedropped The Flash like he was a B-list character when he wrote the book. Truth is, Geoff was a nobody and Wally was THE Flash by that point.

Anyway...Unless we see Scott Snyder start writing Zatanna, I think we should just move on from that concept. More people buy the character and not the creator anyway.

Batman Lost continued Metal's streak of tie-ins that while not necessary to the overall plot are still very good reads. Plus it had quite a few references back to Morrison's Batman run which I'm always game for.

Anyways some news:
  • DC has made Hickman an offer (non-exclusive) per Bleeding Cool
  • DC Superhero Girls Volume 1 has sold over 100,000 copies
  • Michael Lark will be returning to DC for Batman Annual #2
  • Mera is getting her own book come February
