Default Terminator 5 news

Paramount Pictures Takes The Terminator

by SuperHeroHype

June 11, 2013

Paramount Pictures looks like it's going to be the new home of The Terminator as The Wrap reports that Annapurna and Skydance are negotiating with the studio to team on the next entry in the blockbuster franchise.

As reported earlier this year, Patrick Lussier and Laeta Kalogridis are teaming up to script the next installment. Lussier directed Drive Angry and My Bloody Valentine 3D while Kalogridis penned Shutter Island and did some script work on James Cameron's Avatar.

Arnold Schwarzenegger himself recently confirmed that he intends to be involved in the new film, which marks the franchise's fifth big screen entry.
So...we'll see. My heart says it wants to see more of these movies, but my brain says they should have stopped after T2 and left the franchise on a pedestal, without any blemishes.

I want a movie like the opening sequence of T2, ya know with the actual war, and shooting and tanks and technical trucks and all the stuff that is cool.

They tried to give us a trilogy depicting that, but part 4 killed the other 2 parts from happening.

I can understand not liking the 1st, but the 2nd was a fun slasher flick w/better 3D-usage than most films to come about over the last 5yrs or so.........

As fun as it might be for what it is, do you want that director continuing the Terminator series? Which at one time had one of the best sci-fi directors of the past 30 years attached to it.

Yeah, the mighty have fallen. Where do you even GO with a franchise like Terminator? Anywhere that doesn't seem like a lesser movie or further dilution of the brand. I just don't see them doing anything that tops T1 or T2. Unless they pay James Cameron to come back and completely ignore parts 3 and 4.

I didnt think the movie was bad at all in that regard, so I wouldnt have any problem w/that.

They don't need to top them. That kind of thinking leads to awful movies that try too hard. Just make a different story; Salvation actually did that, and it gets far less credit than it deserves. Wish they had kept the original ending, though; audiences are stupid.

If Terminator 5 hits the theater, I'll most likely buy a ticket to watch it. Even though I have a feeling it won't be good as the original.

They should just do Terminator vs. RoboCop.

I so want there to be a T5. The Terminator was fantastic, just so great, T2 was even better, still one of the best Sci-Fi's if not even best films ever. You just can't beat T2!T3 was average, although they went the complete wrong way with the franchise there. Why did they kill Sarah? Why! Salvation was just a joke. it's bearable to watch, but is nothing like any of the original films we all know and love. T:TSCC was fantastic too, I love it so much!! As good as T1 or at least nearly as good, but even this can't beat T2, sad they stopped it after series 2. So what will T5 do? Will it follow the pattern of the other films and be even worse than salvation, or will it be a breath of fresh air for the franchise? Only time will tell.

Oh I'l definately see a T5 in the theater.I just know deep down that they shouldd have stopped after part 2. But it's not like they drove the franchise into the ground like they did the Jaws series. T3 and T4 were at least entertaining popcorn flicks. T1 and T2 were great movies with something to say.

Yes when you see those flashbacks in 1 and 2, you really want to see a movie just about that. Which everyone thought T4 was going to be, but nope, they fucked it up.

Honestly at this point, it might be the better route to go. I'd rather see that than T5. TvR might end up being total crap, but as bad as the AvP movies turned out to be, the first one is still entertaining, that's about as good as it gets for Terminator at this point.

Either that or it gets it's "Prometheus" reboot and they bring back James Cameron. Which of course ain't happening because his head and creative powers are too much into the Avatar franchise now.

I would have also tried to get Neill Blomkamp. That guy know's how to make smart gritty sci-fi, which is exactly what Terminator should be. Elysium looks great and I'm sure will make T3 and T4 look like even bigger piles of poo by comparison.

You know what Dave? Screw it, just pretend Elysium is T5

I don't think the theme and elements of Terminator and Elysium are similar. The Matrix and Terminator were on the same wavelength.

If Sarah were still alive at Judgment Day, John wouldn't need to toughen up and take charge. His mommy would do that.

That said, the "oh by the way, Sarah died from cancer since last we met" was a let down. Perhaps they should've killed her in battle half way through the film.

I remember something about exploring alternate timelines where T3/Salvation could effectively be ignored, but this may have been when different writers were attached, and not the Drive AngryBloody Valentine duo.

Another reason they killed Sarah Connor off is because Linda Hamilton didn't want to return for T3. She said the script didn't have any humanity.

I'm not thrilled that Hollywood and Arnie want to make another Terminator movie. It's like Bruce Willis and Fox with the Die Hard franchise. At least the Lethal Weapon films knew when to quit. I, like many others, think it should have ended with T2. T3 and T4 tainted the franchise. I might be on board for T5 if they hire a good director but James Cameron seems to be the only man that knows how to make a great Terminator film.

I never liked Mamma Connor. Was glad to see she died, would have preferred to actually witness the death, c'est la vie.

I liked T3. Could have done with out the whole romance plot.

Maybe have Sarah killed at the climax which makes John toughen up. Or just not have judgement day happen at all. What's wrong with having a random assassination attempt like in T1?
