Final trailer:
Meh. Still don't know what's going on. They could at least show us if Palpatine is corporeal or not... it's hard to get too excited about a disembodied voice. We're pretty sure that's the Endor moon, right?

I like that trailers are beginning to hold back again. I maintain that if BvS hadn't revealed Doomsday in its final trailer that it would've been a bigger hit because people wouldn't have expected it and thus it would've created post release hype via word of mouth. Never mind the fact that Terminator Genysis basically bombed because they gave away their twist in the trailer it turned even Terminator fans, like myself, away from seeing the film in theaters. So yeah, to have a final trailer for a big tent pole film leave you as confused and uninformed as the teaser did is great, in my opinion, and I'm actually a bit excited for it, now.

Yo.
I agree that trailers should hold back more, but theres NOTHING in *that* one which makes me wanna see the movie; if theres a shot of Ghost Papa Palpatine, then give us atleast a _hint_ of that (rather than a voiceover, which could mean anything.....) Tazer |

Yeah, I'm not saying don't hold back, but you gotta give us SOMETHING. Particularly after "The Last Jedi" literally gave us not one thing to look forward to. They're forgetting the place that movie left us.
It's just... blah blah, Star Destroyers, Y-Wings, TIE-Fighters, Lando, Rey fighting Kylo again... all stuff we've already gotten. Alien horses being ridden on Star Destroyers is the only new thing, and right away I was reminded of the casino sequence from Last Jedi, and not in a good way.

Damn! I've always thought George Lucas copied the Force and Obi-Wan Kenobi from Carlos Castaneda. And he admitted it right here, way back in 1977!
I think maybe that's why I've never been impressed by Star Wars. The thing that people thought was most original about it wasn't original at all, and I knew it. Also, when they showed the Mayan ruins of Tikal and claimed it was Yavin 4, I laughed out loud. Oh my goodness, that was weak. Tikal is a MAJOR tourist attraction. Every creator copies things, but you have to be smart about it. Copy small things instead of big things, and cover your tracks well enough that nobody could ever figure out where they came from. https://www.rollingstone.com/movies/...ar-wars-53162/ Last edited by Trey Strain; 10-22-2019 at 11:28 PM. |

Now this is how to properly steal something. Bruce Springsteen admitted that he took the opening riff of Badlands from the Animals song Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood.

It didn't backfire on him because his audience wasn't knowledgeable enough to catch on. He was just lucky there. I urge all Star Wars fans to read Journey to Ixtlan. Now there is some crackerjack fiction, much better than Star Wars -- although Castaneda claimed it was true! |

I thought the trailer was pretty good but not great. A lot of that is that I'm just not engaged with the new characters for the sequel trilogy outside of Ben Solo.
I half expect Lando and Chewie to get blown up with the falcon. Leia is sure to die, while the droids will probably be left intact at the end.

And I think it was/will be a mistake not having Rey be revealed to be Luke's daughter. The idea of her possibly being Palpatine's granddaughter sounds great, but leaves the end of the Skywalker saga not actually having any Skywalkers as Leia and Ben never carried the name.

Or, they just say Palpatine's kid was a loser and greatness skipped a generation.

The second Star Wars trilogy was so awful because Lucas couldn't find anything else to pilfer.

If Gene Roddenberry had met Carlos Castaneda before Castaneda started writing phony anthropological studies, he could have become the greatest television sci-fi writer ever. Nobody could have touched him.
Con men like Castaneda manipulate their audiences, and that's also what writers do. That's not to say that all writers are con men, or even that very many of them are. But a highly educated and intelligent con man like Castaneda can become a great writer of fiction. He proved that. Last edited by Trey Strain; 10-24-2019 at 02:32 AM. |

I've read that Leia dies of old age at some point in the movie. Rey is Palpatine's granddaughter and was hidden away from Palpatine. Palpatine has been alive (somehow? it's not really said) this whole time, building his new fleet far away from prying eyes. Rey and Kylo race to Endor's moon to try and find some kind of Sith dagger, but it's just a mcguffin. Threepio has to wipe his brain to be a Sith translator at a critical moment, thinking he's killing himself but he's not because R2 keeps a backup of his memories. Rey and Kylo team up against Palpatine but Palpatine kills Kylo. Force ghosts of Luke, Obi-Wan, Yoda, and Anakin flank Rey and together they all vanquish Palpatine once and for all. Basically is what I'm getting out of it.
Also, here's an image that allegedly "leaked": https://i.imgur.com/Ir6HgbA.jpg I think it's legit because the original poster got slapped with a desist order from Disney.

Yo.
so wait: Leia plays "Mary Poppins in Space", rushes thru a recovery of EXTENDED VACUUM EXPOSURE in _nuthin_ flat so she can quell the mutiny being led by Poe.....but doesn't rate having a force ghost somehow?!?? I call BULLSHIT!!! Tazer |

She might be in the group there. What I read talks about "faces from the past appear" in that showdown so it could very well be she's there, too. I'm just assuming it would be Luke, Obi-Wan, Yoda, and Anakin. But hell, Qui-Gon might even be there.

A nine figure deal with Netflix is responsible for their tight schedule? Holy hell. I knew they were producing a Magic: The Gathering animated series, but what else are they doing there for that kind of cash?

Well, Netflix did just acquire the rights to "The Chronicles of Narnia". Maybe that was it.
