I think all those bullet points will be hit in the end of ASOIAF for the main characters, but how they GET there will be longer and solved to us better than the rush job the show gave us. A shame really. So many talented people worked their butts off on the show trying to make it good. The fatal flaw was in the condensed writing and shortcuts for the character arcs that were taken.

I'm happy to hear it. I had little interest in a series about the Long Night 1.0, and I wouldnt sub back up to HBO for it. The one that I AM super excited about is the show based on House Targaryen. Sign me up for that! I'd love a series that spans the dynasty and covers the 17 Targaryen kings. I feel like with Long Night we dodged a bullet.

I think they're looking in the wrong direction. "Hundreds/thousands of years before GoT, blah blah stuff happened blah blah"... you've already lost me.

Arya: The Series would, at least, salvage something of the ending parts of GoT and let us have something to show for it.

Heh, do a series set 20 years after GoT where Jon has children who cause all sorts of problems. One or two want to be men of the north, and a couple decide to embrace their Targaryen heritage and pursue their birthright. Issues arise over who will be Sansa's heir. Trouble ensues.
