![]() ![]() Remember when Geoff started GL Vol. 4, and suddenly Hal Jordan was suddenly, retroactively this big time womanizer (whereas in the past, he'd only ever been in long, committed relationships with generally long courtships)? Is that still a thing?

Hal's barely been to Earth at all in the last 10 years, not really any chance for him to chase any skirts.

Long, committed relationships???
![]() Dorine Clay? Arisia? Eve Doremus? Joan what's-her-name in Idaho? Delia Pharon? These were long-term committed? Hal was a ladies' man from panel one. Go back to Showcase 22 and he's chasing Carol around the filing cabinet. Showcase 23, he's escorting sexy actresses to the theatre, using his ring to do it! It's part of Hal's charm. Naturally, when the movie "The Right Stuff" came out, there was some retro to match the astronauts' nasty-boy image. Don't blame Geoff for this one. He was picking up on an old theme.

Hal just works as a bit of a skirt chaser. I always thought his and Jim Kirk's characters were similar in many regards, ladies being one of them.
Now they just don't have the page space for Hal's character to have that luxury. He has to share a title with three other well loved human characters, and a plethora of alien ones too. Speaking of which, how often do ANY GL (other than the crazy b*tch and the other one) get to interact with a character that DOESN'T posess a power ring? Female or male?

I have no idea why DC did that to him. GOD how many times has the company screwed up this franchise? And always with what are called "unforced errors" in tennis.

Bettdr than how DC treated Green Arrow's womanizing retcon. They made him so unlikable, with all these kids he had that he didn't raise. Hal's womanizing was at least fun. Ollie was just a piece of garbage for like 10 years.

I can't imagine Hal is much of anything these days. The dude spends all his time in space anyway, unless he's getting involved with some alien chicks that we don't know of. Oh Hal!
Yeah Oliver Queen's womanizer was just an attempt to relate / destroy his character. It was despicable.

Context?
Ive never read that storyline with Hal Jordan and Powergirl but I do remember someone telling me about it. Involving some memory erasing and PG eventually punching Hal in the face? Wasnt Powergirl the man-eater in this case? lol And that reminds me of PG and Pel Tavin (one of the subconscious Kyle Rayner persona) AKA Emerald Knight also had a thing. |

It's fine to dislike his work, but he's not to blame for EVERYTHING. Had Hal nailed Powergirl, Wonder Woman's mom, Black Canary, and got Fire and Ice in a three way during Vol. 4 and Vol. 5 you might've had an argument. Nobody is really a stud in DC right now and jumping into everyone's bed. ~//V\\~

![]() You can credit Ron Marz for some of the cast, and for some believe it or not due to the labors of Mark Waid and Tom Peyer in the retrospective "Flash and Green Lantern - The Brave And The Bold" (1999).

Funny you brought that line up, I was just thinking about it yesterday. That was SUCH a great line. They did it so well I felt like I could see it play out on screen in a movie. Too bad it led to nothing, because Cowgirl had a lot of potential as a love interest for Hal.

Ok I did my own research and here is the full context. Because every now and then I read about that time Hal and Powergirl did whatever so I think is time to put that to rest.
This is 2 issues before the Hal and PG thing ![]() The next issue Aquaman breaks up with PG (PG says they need each other but Aquaman rejects PG and says he cant need anyone, he being haunted by the memory of his wife and becouse they are teammates and a couple issues later Aquaman resigns the team making it obvious it was becouse of her et cetera) ![]() It does involves some memory erasing, Hal doesnt even know who he is or how to use his powers (so powergirl likes Hal when hes not being Hal?) ![]() Then next panel this happen ![]() Later in JL International when PG feel she is pregnant ![]() ![]() Also I just realized this is white streaks Hal so who according to Geoff Johns 'logic' it was all Parallax...? |

That was my point. Hal womanizing Power Girl was when he wasn't even himself... the space bug aside, even.
Apparently DC was going to do a big thing with Power Girl giving birth to Hal's kid, but that became warped into the weird cosmic birth she had during Zero Hour that went nowhere when they chickened out.

You missed the scene in the office a few panels before. A great view of cleavage.
![]() A mystic pregnancy indeed. Offspring, you'll recall, was named Equinox, and he mysteriously disappeared during the Underworld Unleashed cross-over. Rumor has it that Atlantean scientists had something to do with the conception, generated from material found in the folds of Power Girl's uniform, a dastardly plot of Arion's to discredit Arthur Curry. (Or was that just in my fan fictions? Or the Oval Office?) About the same time we learned Carol Ferris was also pregnant, with an unknown father--egad, the art of a pregnant Star Sapphire was repulsive indeed. So just when was Viagra invented, guys? I forget. ![]()

It wasn't that Hal was in long-term committed relationships previously in his history (the demands of the story seldom allowed that), it was that he was pretty strictly monogamous. He was involved with a lot of women over the years, but when he was involved with each one, they were his sole romantic focus. He didn't play the field. The fact that those relationships didn't last had more to do with writers wanting to move the story in a different direction than any apparent lack of devotion on Hal's part. Throughout most of his history, Hal was more of a serial monogamist than a "player".

^This exactly! Until Johns, I never got the opinion that he would have a series of one night stands with whom he wouldn't even remember the name of the woman while she's still in the house (let alone two timing like I'd expect from a womanizer). Serial monogamist is the perfect description. And even then you have to remember we are talking about a character that maybe aged twenty years over a fifty year period. Batman had a number of conquests in that time too (Daredevil even more from what I've heard).

I like to think that he and Arisia are actually hooking up on the DL and that's why we never see them speaking to one another when everyone else is there - they're trying to keep it secret. |

Were they trying to mimic the Carol Danvers/Ms.Marvel mystical pregnancy with that?
